I have a thought on the auction. Could we hold it at the Con? Everyone bring what they want to donate, those that can't attend mail it to someone that is going. We set the time and day of the auction. Set up a forum thread for people unable to attend but wish to bid on an item. Then all items can be mailed from a central know location so we know what the postal cost is and everyone can then make a more informed decision about who should foot the bill, payer or payee.

Is it feasible or am off my nut?

This could be a really cool idea. I've had a few rye's at this point, I haven't really got my melon around it quite yet.... but it could provide a bit of fun, focus the folks on why we're there, and allow those that couldn't make it to participate.

God forbid we had some kind of live video feed thingy that allowed folks here to bid and watch what was going on at Otter's......

God forbid indeed.

I'm now going to return to my regularly scheduled Friday afternoon drinking.

Love the idea. Though I'm afraid I don't have anything to donate that is bid worthy. I shall bid though!

I would totally be willing to donate an item of drunkard memorabilia but since I never physically met the fallen ones it might not mean much to anyone but myself. However, I am going to donate to the Paypal fund either way.

Better stick to Drunkard items. Otherwise you're going to have someone like Tony putting their dirty underwear up for bid.

What if we bring something to the Con and have bidding go on there just as an added kinda thing?

I thought I already brought that up?

Doesn't matter it's been brought up and seconded, even thirded. By Rogers rules of order we should vote on it. I think. Either that or we sacrifice a goat on the solstice.

Ok, joking aside I still believe this to be the best course of action. I suggest we do this on Saturday afternoon. As most of the EU folk are between 4 and 6 hours ahead of us noon Eastern Standard time seems a good time to have this. It won't interfere with anyone's evening plans and may serve as a fine pre-game for the Euro Drunks.

Trying to figure out what to bring for the auction.

The bartending midget will fit easily under the seat in front of me and has broad appeal to bidders.

But, the autographed BETA-max version of Breakin' 2 - Electric Boogaloo with Adolofo Quinones is a rarity that is sure to drive bidding through the roof.

So we are going to do this at the Memorial Party. Anyone wishing to donate anything but not able to attend PM me and I will give you my address. I will be attending and taking a few items there as well.

Have we figured out a time to have the auction? I say Noon on Saturday so any West Coasters can be up early or stay up late. It would also mean the Europeans can get in on it before heading out for local festivities.

If there are no objections let's pencil this puppy in for then.

I haven't been on here in a long time, popped back in and saw the heart breaking news about Liz. I'm very sad to hear of her death. I talked to her several times on the phone, for about an hour each time. She was an awesome person: funny as hell, smart as a whip and just about the nicest person you could hope to meet. My condolences to this forum for losing an amazing person. R.I.P. Liz, glad I got to talk to know you a little bit.
