Though generally I commit the mortal sin of on the rocks.

No arguments from me, unless the point of your comment was that highballs, cocktails and mixing drinks in general are somehow below your high standards.

Not below my standards. Just not working fast enough in some cases.
especially when posting drunk and I only post drunk. (EXplains a lot i hope)
I also drink mixed drinks
long iisleand ice tea
Rum and Coke (Coca Cola)
Gin and Tonics
But mostly just the Booze.

Straight booze for booze that is tasty on its own. Not a race for the finish line, but man, can it get the party feeling going on and quick. Then to craft the perfect buzz with the right amount of dedication. It's an artform, really. It takes much practise, but it is practise that is quite enjoyable. It's too bad that I can never read my hand-scrawlings the morning after.

Mixed drinks are for class and for good form, and for their own lovely tastes. It's fine pageantry, and it is the hallmark of the Modern Drunkard Magazine, to which I subscribe.

Drinking is in a class of its own. Time for another drink!

This guy necks Kraken straight from the bottle, and he does it on video, and has no shame about it.

As chairman of the peer review committee, I can confirm that his straight booze habits have been peer reviewed, beer reviewed, bourbon reviewed, vodka reviewed, and also published in DRINK!, the most prestigious of the journals.

Some like their drinks "straight up", but Willies drinks them straight down.

You gotta respect that.

Just adding that anykind of Booze can be great on it's own, Gin, Whiskey, Rum, Vodka, you name it, but not necessarily every brand.

One could also add the old tale of the perfect Martini: pure Gin that stood in the shadow of a Vermouth bottle.

So, again, how is straight-up a recipe? Why this thread under this title?

I had an avant-garde girlfriend many years ago that took me to a violin performance with the virtuoso playing a single note on and on and everyone sat around and thought it was deep or were to afraid to stand up and shout bullshit!, like the play with the blank canvas and the whole conversation about how fucking brilliant or stupid that was.

Okay, I insist on myself a little bit. I wonder why people see things differently than I do, and have inferred that a third of the world is crazy about any given subject at any given time, and that I may be that in third myself from time to time.

But because I drink, it's a managable situation.

More mix content!

I would have understood you at tge beginning of my thread but how youcould question why this is a recipe right after the CLASSIC 2 ingredient (one giving the shadow) Martini is beyond me.

To make it a recipe of several ingredients:
- add a straw to your liking
- or use a glass
- or smoke a cigarette

Now the Straight Booze has become a recipe.

At first I thought you were talking about Everclear. That's nearly straight alcohol isn't it? You used to be able to get a Polish equivalent here, but unfortunately an 18 year old died on her birthday recently doing shots of it so they've pulled it from the shelves in most places. I know it's tragic & all, but they should've stopped selling cars long ago by that logic. 70% absinthe is about the straightest stuff they sell here now. I'd probably rather just do a couple of shots of Smirnoff Blue, because 50 + 50 = 100.
