I have gone through a very large physical transformation in the last three years (for the better,) Part of it was due to switching one addiction for another. I quit drinking, and started running and working out.
That being said, I love beer potentially as much as life itself, and shortly after I started this transition told myself I would allow myself the cold embrace of my one true love IF I could transform myself from a 300 lb couch potato to a Boston qualifying marathon runner, which for my age meant a 7:14 pace for 26.2 entire miles. I am now pretty close.
My query is this, had you not had a single drop of alcohol for three or four years, what would you pick to break that drought? For me, I think it's going to be a Bells Two hearted, I miss Ipa's so badly that sometimes when I drive by a road killed skunk my mouth starts to water...

These
or this
Although, to be honest, this is more my thing
But whatever you choose to break your abstinence, I'm sure that it will be as Nectar to your tongue. So, enjoy it (and many more) and welcome back to the fold!

Let see. For IPA's my personal faves right now are:
Six Point's Resin
Terrapin's Hopsecutioner
Southern Tier's 2XIPA
Green Flash's Palate Wrecker
If I could ever get back ahold of Dogfish Head's 120 minute IPA, I'm sure that would be right up there. If I had to go with just one or two, I'd go for the Palate Wrecker or the Hopsecutioner.

Don't know where you live (States, UK, Europe, ?), but if you can find it, try Mahou. It's a Spanish beer (I believe offered by San Miguel?), not heavy and with a crisp taste. I'm in Spain at the moment and this is my go-to beer.

Sorry about the size, I needed a pic where you could see the color and appreciate the head.

I wobnder will you have to go through a relearning of the flavour. I certainly found beer a difficult flavour to get used to. I drink it regularly though so I wouldn't know what it's like to come back to. Please keep us up to date in the new adventure. Maybe you'll like something different now after a period away

Yup. Tasty.
(btw, I have yet to mix green-bottle brewskie with cider, and then after doing that, put blue liqueur into it to make green alien blood, but Now that is the new X on the map to seek)
It won't be stella. Most likely: rolling rock. It gets the job done.
Cheers, K
