Who knows cribbage?

Post by Resident Asshole »

I have a friend who is a vet that never played cribbage. Seems a travesty, what say ye?

Is that the game with the little pegs? Are cards involved, somehow, too?

Mmmm. Carrots and turnip, potatoes and corned beef. Buttah...
My son Gabe has won the last three annual Island tournaments, now it's hard for him to place side bets with anyone. If only there was a cribbage circuit. Or cribbage halls to shark in. Cribbage Hustler.

You know, he got good by playing cribbage with them Elders before their daily lunch at the community building, many of whom are indeed vets

When I worked at a hobby store, we sold tons of them to mostly older folks. I didn't know it was big amongst the armed services. Or verterinarians.

For most of the 90's I worked at a mall hobby store called Something To Do. It was the best (worst paying) job that I have had.

We played a lot of cribbage in college, right before I flunked out. I always thought it was kind of a Minnesota thing.

Cribbage is mainly a Nothern MI thing, RA.
Us Canadians can play the game as well...And at home I have 2 boards, at camp another two.

How are you at Euchre?

Euchre is loads of fun, very similar to cribbage without needing the board or another card game called "500". Strategy and the ability to count do suffer a little bit as the night progresses due to the continuous imbibing but that shouldn't stop anyone hanging around here.

Maybe you can only play them in the cold. Why, down on the plantation, we had eversomuch trouble with the cards sticking together during a rousing game of Whist.

I really should learn this game. I play mostly uncivilized games like 5 and 7 card stud, Hold 'em, and draw.

Up and down the river, indeed. I live on an island rez. I know about studying the faces of the opponents, yup. Games of skill involved with odds and tells.

Cribbage, once you get used to the math, becomes really interesting, because you know more from one long game of many hands towards a final end, perhaps like it is in a war, instead of sieges and small battles with various hands of poker.

Somewhere between decades of D&D and hours of Hold 'Em might be a good fit for Cribbage.

Then again, boiled dinnah. Mmmm. The gift that keeps on tooting.

I wish I did, but I do not. I am genetically deficient at things involving decks of cards.
