The first flurries have started here in flyover country.
That means it's time to start wintering.
Heavy dark beers will become the norm. Rum will largely be replaced by brandy and Canadian whisky. Scotch will become more common.
Soups and stews with lots of red wine braise will take the place of brats and burgers on the grill.
How will you prepare?
cheers
-Bluto

Re: Wintering
I have an 800 sq/ft basement that I need to start filling with beer and spirits from Costco.
Re: Wintering
Chilli and hunters stew will be more prevalent. Chicken and dumplings in a giant stock pot like the batch on the stove now. As you said Bluto, porters and stout season has started. Scotch and bourbon will fill out the line up. Crockpots will be prepped for Hot Buttered Rum for fall and winter outdoor events. Maybe some Bullshot in a thermos for winter hikes.
Now you're ready for some anti-dry-otics!-BeerMakesMeSmarter

Definitely looking forward to the darker stronger brews as the colder weather sets in.

Got like 70 lbs of apples to some people that press them for you.
All the fun you can do with 15 liters of pure natural applejuice!
A very german thingy is applekorn. It`s an ice cold schnaps-juice mix.
That shit gets you warm on a cold january morning.

I like it thick, black and molassessassey.
Found this three years ago in a Bangor pub and every time it comes out I make sure to get some for sipping.
And bourbon. And a cigar, doesn't have to be Cuban.
Itsaboy or itsagirl brand is fine.

You need to get some champagne yeast and ferment cider. Add some sugar to ramp up the alcohol content and you'll have a very economical, very tasty way to get schnokkered.

Re: Wintering
Cold weather means I gotta fix the fucking stovepipe in my murdershed (garage) with overlooking the rape trailer. Then stock up on scotch, the smokier the better. Some new pipe tobacco for at the fire ring. Beer fridge stocked. Coal forge going. Beating hot metal on an anvil. Just generally doing man things.

Re: Wintering
This is pretty much true. One year we had an ice storm on top of a blizzard and skating proved the most practical means of getting to the bar. Getting back was a bit more problematic.
