Makers. Saw Grumpy off to work a couple of hours ago and haven't been able to go back to sleep since. Read a few Lawrence Block stories. Good writer. He's very old, my parent's generation I guess, but he writes one hell of a story. So it's really sad that he might cork off at any time, like our late lamented Donald Westlake. When he died, I stopped making room on my bookshelves for his books. I think I need another drink.

The random beers that have accumulated in my fridge. One of this kind, two of that. It's like one can/bottle from every sixer manages to break away from the group and hide behind some small container of leftovers.

Jolly Russian, a Russian imperial stout out of Odell.

I like aggressive flavors in whiskey and figured beer should be no exception. Since I work at a liquor store, I can get pretty decent discounts on this stuff, so I couldn't help myself. Damn is this a good beer. Going to be tempting to not buy it all the time, as it's pricey.

MOAR STOUTS!

I think I'm in love...

Nothing special, just some Samuel Adams Octoberfest with a shot of LunAzul Tequila, all consumed while I'm secretly envious of my coworker who will be going to Munich for the ACTUAL Oktoberfest.

Bought another bottle of Jolly Russian. So good.

But first, whiskey.

We went to a bar that advertises itself as english speaking. You know UK, USA people etc.
Full blown german only. Sorry AD. The owner for sure is from the UK or Ireland but was not present. His daugher though was bartending but came across as german as it gets.
I had one Carlsberg and two O Hara IPAs. Then we left. I don`t get why people don`t like IPAs. The guiness AD had on the other hand, puke.

Back to mouthwash vodka now, all that beer made me thirsty for a real drink

Whiskey at the moment. Picked up a bottle of Victory's Java Cask, an imperial stout -- this is a style I'm going to enjoy exploring for a while.

My kind of Friday. I finished off my fifth of Bulleit Rye (after basically destroying it, when I bought it on Thursday), along with my tequila and Sam Adams 6 pack...

My bar's officially empty

Hamm's, the beer refreshing. Hamm's, the beer refreshing. Hamm's.
So now Thirsty owns you too? I drank Hamm's in HS but can't find it in the stores today where I live. Have to find it at a hip dive pub but always in cans. See a lot of PBR on draft at most bars and downtown LA is the main brewery for the West. There are rail yards just E. of there that feed the market. I drink Mexican lagers if you please and there is plenty on draft where I live. Cheers!
Found myself in the Matrix and took the red pill. Now I want the blue pill and my bottle and leave me alone.

Got a late start this fine Saturday but I'm currently enjoying an Old Foghorn barley wine from Anchor Beer. This is one tasty brew.

Being late to a party. Do you catch up quickly shot by shot or do you pile in slowly cocktail by cocktail?

Continuing my exploration of imperial stouts, today after work I picked up an Agamemnon out of Omnipollo, a Swedish company.

We have a few of their beers in stock now and they're all rated very well.

Of course, I'll imbibe the stout after my whiskey.

I like to ease into my happy place nice and slowly. I like to feel the progression from undrunk to plastered. I find it more fun that way.

Also Nausea is making me incredibly jealous with his over abundance of strong dark beer. You lucky bastard!
