Decided it was time to make a drink I used to love but haven't had in ages. Used to really love mixing Woodchuck dark and dry with Jim Beam rye. Woodchuck changed the dark and dry, at least I thought they fucked with it didn't taste like the stuff. Not sure they still make it anymore. But I found some dry cider, Blackbird Cider Works and added some rye whiskey, Redemption rye. Tis a tasty fall treat. Looking forward to experimenting with different dry ciders and other ryes as the season rolls on. Any suggestions? I'm thinking of trying it with Dickel rye next time, but I already know that's an awesome rye. Also if Rye and Cocke sees this, what is that bottle of rye in your avatar?

Omnipollo's Hypnopompa.

This is a really nice imperial stout. Not too forward on any of the flavors. Rather, a nice balance.

No overwhelming coffee or vanilla notes that these stouts tend to have. This is a sessionable stout.

Can't believe the recipes these craft brewers come up with just in time for the Fall season. Had some chocolate stout recently. It goes great with bourbon too.

I was feeling adventurous and picked up Hubbard's Cave's Chocolate & Blueberry Pot de Creme, a flavored imperial stout.

Pretty tasty, and weighs in at 12%. I wouldn't buy it again, though.

Whiskey right after I finish this. Since I have tomorrow off, I loaded up on the KD. Looking forward to high drunkenness in a few hours.

I had Warlock, an imperial pumpkin stout out of Southern Tier, a few days ago. Didn't like it that much.

It should have been more pumpkin-y -- instead it was more of a subtle pumpkin spice.

I've had The Fear a couple of times this season. My favorite of the few I've tried lately. Well balanced, not over the top pumpkin spiced like a lot of things this time of year. Flying Dog did a good job with this one.

I agree with you on the Southern Tier. Warlock ain't that great and I swear they fucked with Pumking. I haven't tried the Rumking-Pumking aged in rum barrels(13.4%) or any of their other sillier beers-cold press coffee Pumking. Have you come across any of those in your travels?
