They went over alright. I picked easy things like gift cards, DVDs, etc. No home runs, but decent gifts.

How was the holiday at the Oettinger household?
Don't worry. We're in no hurry.

With the end of the busy season the corporate overlords have seen it fit to end the mandatory overtime, and so tonight it's been celebrational libationals. Two dry martinis, and then a variation on a Hanky Panky. Two parts each gin (Bookers), rye (Sazerac), and sweet vermouth (Punt e Mes) with a dash of Campari. It's ... really good. It's really something. The flavors are constantly darting around like the Whitetail Deer in October. I can see this making it into the regular rotation as a transitional drink from Manhattan to Martini.
"Sometimes you climb out of bed in the morning and you think, I’m not going to make it, but you laugh inside — remembering all the times you’ve felt that way."
-Charles Bukowski

I was probably drunk when I said that, but I meant it.

The second best thing about a shot of Malört is the face the bartender makes when you order it.

fixed it for you
If history proves anything it's that I'm willing to drink the undrinkable. My fondness for Malort, for example.

Franzia Chillable Red - and I don't give a fuck that it's so cold in here I have to run a heater. I just feel like chilled wine right now. So that's what I'm drinking.

Got a new poem up at the Rye Whiskey Review: https://ryethewhiskeyreview.blogspot.co ... d3-lx07Vqs

They lost the dash that was supposed to go between 'heater on - rain splashing' but whatever. I didn't complain,

Cheers!

Slaying another bottle of WT101. I foresee this trend continuing for a while.

Might try the Longbranch from WT soon. Supposedly it's smoother. This is a quality that I look to avoid with the 101. We'll see.

Going to happy hour and not drinking is like going to an orgy and masturbating. You just took a great idea and turned it into a circle jerk. -Sixpack595

A fondness for Malort is a sign of rare and distinguished character. It's also a sign of insanity. Welcome to the club.

Peter Vella Sangria. Drinking sangria on a cold winter night probably sounds stupid, but it was on sale for $8.97 a box. Maybe that's why it was on sale.

Got the "Sunday Scaries" except for me it's actually Saturday Scaries since I work Sunday through Thursday. I've had the same job for almost 16 years now, but I still dread going in at the start of a new workweek.
