Looked for places to submit my poetry to. I had resolved to submit to multiple places, but only found one that might feel right, and I still haven't sent the goddamb poems. Why am I so reluctant to submit? It feels too much like work, that's why. I've got hundreds, maybe thousands of poems just sitting in folder and piles, unread and of no use to anyone. It's been a great year at getting accepted, but now all of a sudden I'm too lazy to look for new places to submit to. And I guess there's always that fear of rejection, of appearing like a dumbass to some editor whom I've never met. I imagine them getting my submission and going, "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?!?! WHO THE FUCK DOES THIS IDIOT THINK HE IS?!?!" (Bukowski once said that one of his short stories got rejected and mailed back to him with "WHAT IS THIS SHIT?" scrawled across the front page.) But I went to the liquor store a few minutes ago and picked up a six-pack of courage in the form of Hamm's. I've got to get to work on this shit.

Best day of the year! The sun was already gone before it was even 5 o'clock. I wish it was winter solstice all year long.
Found Peter Vella Sangria on sale for $8.97 a box. I don't think I've ever seen boxed wine that cheap. Picked up 2 boxes.
Is everybody going to flee this site for the Facebook group? Bah. I'll be the last one standing.

Nah, I'm still here. I got my little personal bar filled with a six pack of Flying Dog "Family Drama" Pilsner...I have no idea what it's going to be like when i wake up tomorrow, but into the abyss I go...Hugh wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 7:03 pmBest day of the year! Yes, it's Winter solstice and nighttime comes early. That means it's a short day and quick trip into the Twilight Zone for early risers and early drinkers, meaning before 5pm. We crash early and there is no ambient light to keep us awake after we turn out the lights. Good nite now!Hugh wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 7:03 pmBest day of the year! Found myself in the Matrix and took the red pill. Now I want the blue pill and my bottle and leave me alone.

My day pretty much revolved around liquor and cooking spaghetti sauce. Very nice actually.

Nice, quiet day. Maybe most of my neighbors are gone somewhere for Christmas, I'm just grateful for the peace. Well, except for the lonely Facebook friend who kept messaging me. The sound of that whooshding from Facebook Messenger gives me as much of a stomach cramp as a phone call coming in. It's 3:30 in the afternoon and I'm going to pour my favorite rotgut - Kessler.
One of my favorite bartenders just posted on Facebook pleading for people to come in to the bar. He only has a couple more hours on his shift, so I don't think I'll go. Drinking alone sounds good tonight.
You know, I've invited a couple of my Facebook friends who keep messaging me to join this forum. None of them will. Why is that? Maybe they don't like the way the forum looks on their phone? Maybe they just like the immediacy of Messenger? Are they sitting there messaging all their friends until they get someone who will sit there and chat with them? I prefer these old style forums to Facebook, certainly better than fucking Messenger.

Never had anything to do with facebook but only can imagine the types you are referring are these non drinker geeks living in their mommy's basement looking to improve their social status. Christmas night was meant for drinking alone even after all the kids and the guests have gone if you were exposed to all that. Tomorrow is another day to explore more ways to get drunk.Hugh wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 5:40 pmNice, quiet day. I got to drive my self centered bitch sister to my Parents house so she could pretend to care. Then I drove her home. Now I'm drunk.

Spent the better part of the day reading and rereading John Ashbery poems. I have no idea what the hell he is saying. More than one critic calls him America's most influential poet. He's won many awards. I have no idea what the hell he is saying.
