The difference can be quite profound. For example, drinking a fifth of Early Times produces a much different type of hangover than Evan Wlliams black label, which in turn produces a hangover harsher than if one decided to drink Woodford Reserve or Makers Premium.

Cheap booze will always fuck you up worse the next day than the good shit. Pay now or scream later. Your choice.

Indeed. Some wold say, "Hey. I'm gonna be hurting tomorrow anyways"
...but there's a difference between good clean pain
and meaningless, frayed, unfocused all around pain.
Spend a little more for the good pain. Then you can make it back into the bottle again the next day much easier.

Just sippin'

Cabin Still whiskey. Also called "Stab & Kill" in certain cliques of cliche circles (around the fire with bums). Eminently drinkable rot-gut 'round these parts.

Lately I've been going toward rotgut when it comes to bourbon or just buying Canadian whiskey. Age statements have disappeared from a lot of brands and prices have increased on others. So Ezra Brooks is good by me. Scotch is where I go if I want high quality stuff.

Not exactly whiskey but.

In the realm of Rum there is a marked difference in taste, vomit producing vapors and methanol.

The best Rum so far that I have found is Queen Charlotte from Muddy River Distillery in Belmont,NC.

Smooth and not fiery. Great on the rocks or with Coke.

It makes the Captain taste like gasoline in comparison.

If you can find it. It is worth every penny to me.

I don’t know man - Woodford is something else and I’m not a whiskey snob at all. Rotgut has its place but if you are going to drink properly it’s worth to have quality.

True. Though rotgut has it's place when destitute. When funds allow always raise your eyes to the higher shelves.

I also subscribe to the higher end stuff to start but value booze to take over if an endrunkening is taking place. If you chose not to get loaded on any particular night, well, then the good stuff still goes away after one or three. Of to sleepy land I go.

in relation to the hangovers....I tend to drink cheap whiskey with a splash of coke and drink decent whiskey neat...I'm sure some bad shit happens when you mix extra sugar with your booze when it comes to hangovers...fuck me don't even let me get started on rum and how bad my hangovers are when I've thrown a fuck load of rum on some fruit juice and syrups. wake up with that drill to the brain feeling.

decent shit I'll always drink neat and probably savour it more....what I'm saying is that I'm not sure if it's the cheaper booze that's giving me the bad head or the difference between sipping a nice few glasses through the night or necking jugs of rum punch back like it's the closing down sale in tiki town.

so if Evan Williams is 43, and Jim Beam is 40, why would anybody choose Beam over Evans?
Before I knew the board I choose the brown forman product over beam just for taste. Beam white is dishwasher to me.
I wouldn`t agonize about the 3% extra (btw thanks, we europeans totally know our shit ha!).
Same goes for people that claim their beer has 1 percent extra alcohol by volume.
Woah, holy deadbeat-mother of drink, that`s god`s own urin right there. I have to drink that instead of the crap that fits my taste way better
it's just under 8% more actually
