I'm a pretty good swimmer, and after drinking all day at the beach, many times I'd get in the ocean and swim for a while. Even if it was dog paddling in place I could do it for at least an hour because I was adrenalized from my drunken energy. Not exactly hard core "working out" but decent exercise and I had good endurance. It was relaxing, felt good on the muscles, and I didn't feel like I was going to die of exhaustion while doing it.
But I'd only recommend it if people are good swimmers because there are those people that drown in bathtubs...

I was told drinking immediately after sports was very bad for your muscles. They need water first and foremost. I don`t know about doing it at the same time though

I like to bring a flask with me when walking around in the woods. Does that count?

In my young days I used to go to the gym after having a beer or two. I heard the carbs help you work out more. Apparently there's truth in that. In Hunter S. Thompson's Curse of Lono, I seem to remember him mentioning "carbo loading" before the marathon. My daughter, who runs track, mentions it too. So maybe there's something to it.
All I know is that I would enter with a buzz and leave undrunk, sore and cranky.
Later, I'd really drink just to get back to where I was in the beginning, totally undoing any work I'd done in the gym.
But it was worth it.

Agreed with all of these: Drinking is never an excuse to not do something else at the same time.Rye and Coke wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 7:13 pmIn my young days I used to go to the gym after having a beer or two. Well, unless the lives of others depends upon it... Heart surgery, piloting an airliner, driving a booze truck...
But the amino acids in the beer are good sources of protein for the muscle rebuilding, and the carbs are pure energy, and bonus: buzz against the final burn on each set of reps. You can get a bunch of gain with such a buffer.
But use the Smith machine. Don't go freestyle when it comes to squats!
