Recently I didn't have any wine for my risotto and so used brandy instead.

We used beer in the beer cheese soup we made recently. It was really good and the beer really stands out.

Yes stouts (and even porters) are excellent in chili and beef stew. Making me wish I'd gotten the goods to make one of those instead of the casserole I'd planned on.
