My first martini

Post by Jimmy&Guinney »

MDM is seriously effecting my worldview. I always hated gin and has about as much desire to drink a martini as I did for permanent undrunkenness. But the constant propaganda that I have subjected myself to for the last couple months would not allow me to at least give the drink a shot.

I really liked it.

It wasn't as piney as I thought it would be. I didn't even mind the olive. I only had one because of the circumstances at the time, but I think the next time I drink alone, I'm going to make a pitcher of it, put on Frank and Dean, and degenerate into ginny lunacy.
And they say her flower is faded now
Hard weather and hard booze
But maybe that's just the price you pay
For the chains you refuse

Congratulations!

I love Martinis. The Martini is the sublime spirited drink.

Go forward Jimmy&Guinney and indulge in the many delights of the majestic Martini. Defend the one, true Martini against the imitators and the frauds. Experiment with different gins, they are not alike; different vermouths, they too, are each unique; and different garnishes. There is no one way to the Martini, except through gin.

One hint, a pitcher of Martinis is fine if serving a group. Otherwise, I advise mixing Martinis as they are individually consumed. I think Martinis are best when chilled and diluted as of their mixing; but then, we must all find our own way; experiment, enjoy.

I sort of agree with DPAW.
I would love it if Pinky's avatar was Pinky from "Pinky and the Brain" (the best cartoon ever).
I still associate that avatar with Mr D. But then I'm old and my brain hates change.

Make the hair redder, and you have my little girl Elizabeth. She was very fond of grabbing cokes and beers from tables and downing them. Now she is a US Marine. The photo looks so much like her that I just melt every time I see it.
