the new beats

Post by calx »

blue bottle and i are going to start a new movement to revitalize the pansy poetry that's out these days

wrong address

i wish you would stop
waiting for me like that
sleeping love housed under your
grim wings' doom
your apartment is dim
where you stir noodles in boiling water
the kitchen's dark window
reveals nothing
not even the rain or the white stray cat
red and black candles surround you
you light them cautiously
as if they were crude loud weapons

someone knocks rapidly at your door
and you remain frozen and silent
but it eventually ends much to your relief
the noodles boiling softly over
muffled footsteps fading down the hall
the stray cat screeching
at something unknown and terrifying
and the match's flame dangerously close
to the fingers of your still shaking hand

Outside the street lamp laughs
the police cry
and the mailbox whines for a letter, a reason, a purpose.

It's raining in November,
isn't that Ironic?
twice as cold as you thought it would be
when you moved here, three months ago,
away from home,
away from snow,
away,
period.
doesn't really work the way it does in the movies, does it?

Oh well.

Still gonna end with a bang, eh?

Ka. Boom.

Twice as cold as you thought it would be, three months ago,
and the mailbox is looking at you like a junk sick hobo,
grasping at change,
flailing at wine,
tearing at it's own skin, alone,

under the cold autumn rain,
the 3am chill,
the patronizing light

of the street lamp's gaze.

What the fuck are you looking at?

before i leave i'm going to take a shit in a grand piano

some french guy
just played the harpsicord on NPR
like a mad fucker at about 180 bpms
it was so perfect i thought it was computer sequenced
the whole thing was over in a stroke inducing 30 seconds
i play songs with harpsicords in them too
but i'm not a mad fucker

i'm thinking of the great poets that
ended themselves one way or another
i've just discovered steven bernstein
who ended at 40
simic is still around
thank euclid for that
and tom waits
then there's me
but i'm not great either
not even close to being a mad fucker
but i can see into the future
something that looks like
a sharpened rake and a chandelier full of knives
it's waiting at the epilogue

calx 07/22/00

damn i was emo back then lol

Keep to the side of the platform
the announcement says,
as i stand there with my ticket,
my bag,
and my tool.

Nothing about this makes me feel important.

Just another commuter on that westbound train,
downtown at 11pm,
pushing towards that friday night light,
the drink, the look, the girl, the fuck.

Not my life.

Off the train at the downtown station,
up the street, past about a dozen,
a thousand hobos,
dirty clothes and sunken faces,
crack,meth,booze,
and the ones who just weren't born right,
sympathy for most,
a coin or two for each,
a word or two with every one,
then moving on.

The club is busy tonight,
full of sweat and sex,
young and younger, music pounding
like a war chant, on and on for hours,
FUCK FUCK FUCK

no thanks.

There she is,
at the bar, against it with a grin,
a wink,
and a martini.

Two olives. Motherfucker.

"How's it going?"

She talks to me. That's convenient.

"Pretty fine. Yourself?"

She looks me in the eye,
dead center, innocent,
beautiful, wanting, yearning,
reaching out to grasp me on a friday night,
and as the music swells and the bass pounds and the crowd look away,

i shoot her twice in the chest and slip out the fire exit.

She sure was sweet.

The last thing that anyone should ever do is feel ashamed of blacking out. You were trying to get drunk last night and, goddamnit, mission accomplished.

i am a little late in arriving, calx. you and lifer are putting up some pretty good stuff. here is one sitting on top of a pile:

N'de Outrider

I unsheath
from my boot
4,000 wet tongues,
grim bladed
butterflies
sent out to riot in
the night,

wingtips dark as hot razors

to be stained with the blood
of
black robed priests.

At Fort Marion turrets,
I carress thesse fresh brown wet things
hold them level
over the Atlantic Sea,
one man standing
against
all comers,

long haired
boots holding
point taken
poet with knofe
praying for hope against
the bellowing
sea
of
the
east.

There once was a man from Kentucky...
“Süßen witwe Mutter-Hosen — kommst du hier mit mein knackenpfeife schnell, oder Ich zeige Ihnen mein Zuhälter Hand!”

"I am going to pistol-whip the next person who says 'shenanigans' "

"Rectum? It nearly killed him!"

there was a poetry thread
full, FULL!

Well done sirs, well done. I don't have the poetry talent, but I'm glad to see it's alive and well in others.

okay i told bb i'd post another one

what's left

so many lovers lost
so many empty hands
there were fudge sundaes
and coffee and clove cigarettes at 8 in the morning
alarm clocks with battered snooze buttons
semen and other substances
lost to the shower drain
a black chrysler laser
a vegetarian renault with a broken convertible top
and one girl just rode the bus
watching everyone watch her

a few pictures are scattered here and there
none of which were taken
in the first person
there is also an empty pewter picture frame
in the shape of the moon
next to a small clay figurine
it appears to be reaching for the sky
with only one broken arm

Poet Taking Rest

My lover,
I admire the length
and grace
pf your well-shaped hands,
delicate wings of the butterfly
pressed tightly together
in prayer,
and in between them,
my only thin
asylum
of brief repose.

nyah. there was a girl with very large breasts c;eaning my apt tdauuy.
