you can keep drinking whatever you feel like. and to be honest, i have broken the brown forman rule several times. i have yet to BUY a bottle of JD. i can't do it. its not just the taste, which i have grown incongruent with, but that company is the anti-drunkard. they are not interested in you at all. they are interested in the club downtown that you hate. stay out of that club.
You see in this world there are two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

I'm guilty of the vodka and a few wines but I can blame that on Duty Free. Otherwise, I don't enjoy bourbon/whiskey (shut up Casino) and thus don't buy it.

Wow, didn't realize Woodford Reserve was a tainted label. I could've ranted at a few people in recent history had I realized. Only thing I've had from the list in the past 2-3 years would be some Korbel champagne, but that's been oh so rare.

I kinda want to go hug my bottle of Ten High. Really *really* want to go hug the barrel of Maker's with "Moo" engraved on its plaque...

No more Korbel for me. Thankfully, most of their wines aren't that great. And there's a bottle of Jim Beam Black sitting on the counter over there.

No wonder I've always hated that rum. Funny, because aside from Appleton, and a bottle of dirt cheap rum I picked up in Mexico, I've never met a rum I didn't like....

Thanks for the list.
What are you saying? That Appleton Estate tastes shit just because it is represented by Brown Forman?

I've emailed Jack, off of their website, demaning an explanation (allthough politly) and they responded by saying that they haven't changed it at all! JD's proably rolling in his grave.

Keep in mind that the representatives do not always know everything that goes inside the company. You might have talked to a representative that was new to her/his job. The answer you received is a very common answer in the industry.

Actually I'm not saying that. I was trying to be facetious, plus show support for the ban when I made the "No wonder I've always hated that rum."

I dislike Appleton's because of its flavour.
I have a friend who really likes the stuff, so I picked him up a bottle at Duty Free one day. Since he raved on about it so, I tried it. In my opinion, it had a distinct whiskey taste to it. Now, I have nothing at all against whiskey, but when I drink rum, I want it to taste like rum.

There may be a different type of Appleton's that I would like, who knows.
For now I am quite content to stick to my cheap-ass Castillo Silver. Drunkard I am, rum snob I am not.
The cabin sits shut-down, cold-frozen and empty, dead mice in the traps, waiting for me to drink alone there in the dark.

Fair enough. Your facetious tone did not come through very well in the text.

I don't know which Appleton it was that you tried but the distinct whiskey taste could be remainders of the whiskey barrel it was aged in. Most rum is aged in used whiskey barrels and a lot of rums have a little bourbon flavour for instance. Coincidentally Appleton Estate rums are aged in used Jack Daniel's casks.

Amen, In fact the club downtown that I hate is covered with Jack D. stuff and it is the favorite whisky of the owner and most of the people there it seems.
