I once looked up hot toddy recipes to get me through a cold. I didn't make them. Just continued sipping neat.
yeah, once you get a good hot toddy recipe it becomes your go-to. Mine is Rye whiskey, hot spiced apple cider, a teaspoon of honey and a cinnamon stick to stir and flavor. Gets me through any and every type of cold.
Right now I'm drinking the last of my barleywines, while waiting for DoorDash to deliver our Peruvian food.
I'm trying to convince myself not to go out to the bar tonight. I've been depressed lately and everyone's worried.
Been trying to shake off The Blues for two months now. maybe I should just listen to some Son House and just let that old drunken master lull me to sleep. Start over again tomorrow.
Son House is good but quite depressing. If it's the blues you're looking at to get you out of a funk try some Howlin' Wolf.
Started with Son House
lead me to Howling Wolf, which lead me to B.B., I'm heading to Muddy ect., after that
i love Wolf and B.B., but both were damn near teetotalers, for different reasons (Wolf for his obsession with discipline and B.B. for his health), Son House, on the other hand, DRANK... He drank A LOT!
It was just his thing. I love Son House's music, it's fucking hypnotic.
He was just a resentful (thanks to religion), angry and righteous drunk.
He was what he was. And that's why I choose him to lead me through this nonsense.

Ever give much time to Albert Collins? He was inspirational to one of my favorite guitar slingers Stevie Ray Vaughn. Altered tuning and a capo. Great sound.

Knappogue 12 — very nice.
Jameson IPA Caskmates — terrible, no flavor, weak dram.
That IPA Jameson was fairly disappointing. I have a vague memory of trying a stout edition Caskmates, I wanna say I remember liking it. Been just a little too long.
Currently sipping some Bushmills black.
Had a large shot of Jameson Stout Caskmates with a Boddington pub ale. That whiskey is so sweet I would pour it on my pancakes or French toast!
Found myself in the Matrix and took the red pill. Now I want the blue pill and my bottle and leave me alone.

Whiskey on French toast? You may be onto something there.
It's my Friday and tomorrow is your Monday. I pity the fools -- oh wait, I work 6 days a week.
Spicy.
Same here this time of year.
Speaking of the Blues: any thoughts on the Reverend Blind Gary Davis? I'm a big fan of the pre-war Delta Blues.
Speaking of the Booze: dry martini (not dirty today) first and then either a Drekker Brewing Company Passionfruit Hibiscus Secret Handshake Milkshake IPA or an Abita Christmas Ale. Bought both last night at a surprisingly well-stocked village liquor store. Didn't notice the "passionfruit hibiscus" part on the label, but it's still pretty good. Oddly enough I bought some hibiscus flavored sparkling water the other day. I guess drinking flowers is getting hip. Good thing I already knew about drinking Four Roses.

-Charles Bukowski
I was probably drunk when I said that, but I meant it.
The second best thing about a shot of Malört is the face the bartender makes when you order it.
