Re: Red Dragon...Minnesota Drunkards, you got something good!

Damn...it's been over a year and I'm sorry this thread has devolved from dive bars to D&D.

Re: Whisky bars

Two I like a lot are the Dundee Dell in Omaha--an absolutely huge collection of Scotch, and they sell it by the bottle. For a pretty reasonable price, too. I head there quite a bit if I here about a new scotch and want to sample it before I lay out the cash to special order a case for myself. Anothe...

Re: Stand Up Franks, Irv's, etc in Minneapolis

I tend to find myself in Minneapolis quite a bit, and I generally head to the uptown neighborhood to drink cheap. I've gotten seriously drunk at Liquor Lyle's for 25 bucks, drinking 2-for-1 cocktails on a Tuesday afternoon.

Re: Me? I like a dark, shadowy bar..

While I'll totally agree that bright lights have no place in a good bar, I'll go out and say that you can be 'lit' and a good bar. Case in point is one of my favorite spots, Liquor Lyle's in Minneapolis. You can see the faces of the people across the bar from you, but the place has that wonderful re...

Re: Dirty Gin Caper

While I've always felt that "don't fuck with the martini" is a damn fine piece of advice, I do think the garnish is one place you can freely be creative. Capers are good, and cold gin is good, so I can't object. I'll have to try one.

I've been in your shoes. It sucks--but that first one when you come out the other side is as beautiful as life itself. Have fun....

I love it. It's well made, technically, the stories are intriguing and booze flows freely.

Re: Fighting the beer gut

It's a challenge to be a drunkard and not get a bit podgy round the edges. Exercise is the answer, but boozing and working out don't always go so well together. The key is to build a balanced schedule--nothing tastes better than a cold beer or gin and tonic after a workout. I try to workout three to...

Re: The smell of stripper....

The stripper I once dated was actually very cool--she had been through some tough shit, but she was nothing like your experience. She ended up quitting that job to take a far less interesting day job--strippers are generally good people. That said, I still have to laugh a little at some of the conve...

Re: Regionally Disadvantaged

The only part of Florida I've ever hung around in is South Alabama, where I fit right in. As for regional issues, I've found some folks very welcoming of outsiders, as long as you are not an ass, and others that are jackasses. Usually the ones that fit in to the later category are people you don't w...

Re: The smell of stripper....

I've been to 2 different strip clubs and can't say I liked either of them. all the problems mentioned above- the fake interest to weasel $8 drinks from you, or on stage- the begging look in their eyes. I know that someday when I'm more lonely I might come to need it, but it's not for me. I'd rather...

The smell of stripper....

Does not fucking go away. That's some damn industrial strength perfume they use--went to the strip bar with the boys earlier, and it was cool, but after four hours of chain smoking and sucking down high life, i don't smell like smoke or beer, just cheap vanilla perfume. i fear it will haunt my dream...
