Re: The UK TV License (AKA The "I have 13lbs of Copper" dera

Actually, Palinka, here in the States we get our official BBC fix (no, You Tube doesn't count) two ways: 1:Through most of our local PBS stations, who regularly wheedle us for donations. 2: On our cable or satellite box, in the form of BBC America. Neither of these are free (the local PBS station at...

Re: The Daily Nut (your way of making a living)

I stack cases on pallets at a cake mix plant to get them ready for shipping. At the plant I work in, we make cake mixes, cookie mixes, biscuit/scone mixes, pancake/crepe/waffle mixes, etc., mostly store brand stuff (just about every major chain in the U.S. and Canada has contracted with us, along wi...

Re: Top Tips for the Alcoholically Challenged

I thought "Alcoholically Challenged" meant that either you were in a Dry area, or that you couldn't get drunk.

Re: How did you end up here?

Way back in the late 90's, I was in this indie bookstore one of my friends ran, and on the mag racks had an early edition of Modern Drunkard. The retro art intrigued me (it was probably a year or two before retro art started to hit it big). I followed it online, and it was only a few years ago when ...

Re: Things that are WRONG!

Flavored vodka, for 3 reasons; 1: The weird flavors they come up with. Bubble gum, whipped cream, etc. What legitimate drinks are made from bubble gum and whipped cream? 2: Encourages laziness. You're supposed to add the flavor yourselves by MIXING vodka with whatever. What next, tomato flavored vod...

Re: For my birthday, I want a still

Last week I bought this "Prepper 101" type mag called Off The Grid, just out of curiosity. It shows you how to make a still (presumably for purifying drinking water). Charm, bribe, plead with or threaten Grumpy to hook up a metal water bottle to a camping stove. After you pour the water (and mash) i...

Re: Theme music

You definitely can't go wrong with the Peter Gunn theme, especially the original score.

In all the recordings I've heard, I often feel like something's missing, so this is Episode 1, with the original score.

Re: Theme music

Not really. The movies had J.B.'s American counterpart, Felix Leiter, since Dr. No., all the way to the Timothy Dalton era, where he got murdered in The Living Daylights, I think. The one I assume to be on booze runs is the original Felix, Dr. No's Jack Lord.

You forgot the charred oak barrels for aging, so you can make your own Bourbon.

Re: Lyric Substitution

"Lyric substitutions?" If that's what it's called, I've got plenty of 'em, but I'll start off with what I think is the best, my version of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Give It Away." What I got, I gotta give it to your momma, what I got, I gotta give it to your daughter, what I got, I gotta give it t...
