Damn, I haven't been around here nearly enough, I think I spent five minutes looking for a "Like" button.
"Granny Smith Mjolnir!" I love it.
I don't know where to find apple Wine, so I think I'll just have to throw some vodka into some Applejack. Think I'll call it a Johnny Applebleed.

Re: Ok, you haven't been here in a while. What's your excus
The journeys are myriad, the failures heroic, the triumphs de rigueur. Where have I been? Is the answer not always, "That booze ain't gonna drink itself." Long essays towards cold fusion resulted simply in cold tankards and hot tempers and when the whole thing blew we'd never really been there at al...

Re: Ambrose Bierce
Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary is in the public domain now so can be picked up online for free or close to free depending on how clean or efficient you want your hard or digital copy, and it should be de rigeur reading for all drunkards. Oakley Hall also wrote a beautiful collection of fict...

Re: Drink of the Decade
I love Hendrick's and Plymouth, care deeply about Boodle's, but spend most of my time with Beefeater and Seagram's.
I'm usually mixing my gin so I'm not that particular; I've spent whole weekends drinking Aristocrat. For a Gimlet or Martini, though, it behooves one to upgrade a bit.

DOTW 07/12/13
Hello, Chilblains! DOTW has returned like Zombie MacArthur with a hankering for lumpia. Now I know it's hot where you are. If it's not, just keep congratulating yourself and go back to Gwyneth Paltrow's blog about tips for how to get your personal woodsman to stack the lumber in the manner you like ...

Re: Drinking is the war against death
For a moment, for a succession of precarious moments, when I drink, when I'm drunk, I'm not the precious, terrified tool of other people's machinations that I am all day every day. For a few moments, no matter what Congress, the Networks, or anyone's army does, I am entirely in charge of life. All t...

Drink of the Decade
for those few people who remember drink of the week. When a tickle of booze changes your life in a way that a flood of booze seems inevitable, sometimes that's how you build a drink. Rocks a glass, lay some fresh cucumber on the rocks, pour some gin over that cucumber, drizzle some lime over said gi...
