Re: Children and Mixing Drinks

Ha! Alright, it may not be unseemly...disturbingly cute, actually. But the vermouth...

Re: Moonshine

I guess we're so pre-packaged here in the west that I haven't run across any moonshine. The closest that I can think of - and it's kind of a stretch - was some home-made spiced mead created by a friend of a friend who was deeply into Ren Fair. It's really more like sweet wine, but I highly recommend...

Children and Mixing Drinks

"Do not allow children to mix drinks. It is unseemly and they use too much vermouth."

Re: Drinking as Motivation

spoon, What exactly is your gig? (you may have posted it before, but I must have forgotten) It sounds like sales of some kind and this "Alan" seems like a pretty good supervisor/motivator -- like some bandleaders I've worked for. The corporate environment is mysterious and foreign to me. Do you enj...

Re: Whiskey Thieves, SF, CA

Agreed--but IMHO stay away from this place on the weekends. Not that I don't like drunks, but it's largely screwed with ding dongs of the worst gene pool ordering drinks that should get one's manhood revoked. I actually got an immediate free drink because I ordered a simple Maker's and the bartende...

Drinking as Motivation

Using a drunkard's thirst for alcohol is nothing new. It is a prime motivator for many social scenes: "Hey, so-and-so's having a party tonight and we should go. Some of our friends are going!" "I don't know..." (begins to open the tap on a box of wine) "I've heard they got, like, three boxes of liqu...

Re: The Martini

I rarely do mixed drinks, but when I do, I ask the bartender to make the simplest high-grade, top shelf drink he can make. This makes almost every drink unique, and I'm never let down.

I guess my dad infused a bit too much of his Zen teachings into me.

Re: Rye Whiskey Help

Hmm, I always sip whiskey neat, same for rye. I've never tried it with ice. Maybe I'll experiment and let you know what I find.

The only thing is, I prefer Old Overholt rye, so this might be a true adventure.

Can't Help It - Quote Barrage

Sorry if any of these have already appeared here. "Beware of the man who does not drink." - Proverb "Water, taken in moderation, cannot hurt anybody." - Mark Twain "A productive drunk is the bane of moralists." - Unknown "The worst thing about some men is that when they are not drunk they are undrun...

Re: surprise party last night. (pics)

am I the only guy on the east coast who doesn't own a pair of camoflage (sp?) cargo shorts? Good pics, Liz. Looks like a good time was had by all. Well, then you're not prepared for when "Red Dawn" becomes real, are ya? I swear that over here on the west coast it's freakin' flip-flops. Seriously, s...

Re: Bar Map for Drunkards!

Oh, you asked for it: Pilsner Inn : Active little neighborhood bar near the Castro district . Good beers, friendly barstaff, dimly lit backyard smoking area. It's near the Castro area, so gay men and women flock here; if you can't take it, go somewhere else. 225 Chruch St, San Francisco, CA, 94114 W...

This freakin' trance music crap in my own head that my coworker was listening to in her car as we went to a work-sponsored dinner. Aagghhh!
