Crap booze? How do you distill feces? Oh wait, Golden Anniversary Ice was distilled crap.

Good point. At a Redwings game there is no such thing as cheap beer (when speaking of price), but for instance we went golfing the other day and I brought along Natty Ice.greygoose wrote:there's such thing as cheap beer at a sporting event? guess it's all relative.Resident Asshole wrote:...the only time I drink cheap beer is if I'm at home, or at a sporting event.

Gotta pretty much go with Casino on this, but time of night/situation/$$ can always factor in.TheBigCasino wrote:I don't, I try to end the night with what I start it with. As always, my tastes get more expensive the more I drink. A beam Black night can turn into a Ardbeg night with the quickness.
(quality of booze) x (drinks consumed x price) divided by (time until last call) x (freebies squared) divided by (% of chances getting laid) = reduction in acceptable booze quality.

When at the bar, I tend to stick with bottom shelf start to finish if I'm going mixed drinks. When drinking beer it depends on what kind of night I'm going to have. If it's only going to be a couple hours I go with whatever is cheap, but if I'm going all night I like to start with something like an a stone ruination ipa or an arrogant bastard before switching to the cheap stuff. Sets the tone for me to face whatever drink is put infront of me. Shots, if I'm buying it's always a car bomb, if someone else is buying, it's whatever they'll pay for.
this post brought to you by #summerofmargaritas10 cause, yeah it's going to be that kinda of summer where mixed drinks with tequila is going to taste all types of good and stuff, this summer '10 get yourself some margaritas and holler at ya boy.

Amen. I've been telling Mr McG this for years. If I'm out on the town, I don't switch. If I'm at home, I only switch if company is around and we're starting to get low on their beverage. Otherwise, drink until it's gone seems to be the best bet.Zippy wrote:Life's too short for crap booze!

I am not a rich man but I do sometimes splurge on top self. When I do, I stick with it until I pass out because I wanted to enjoy a high class drunk. That's why I bought the top self in the first place. I drink about 2 handles a week plus a case of beer, so I'm always looking out for the best deal.
For example, one mega store had Fleischmann's Gin on sale for $10.99 with the $2 rebate coupon (yes, I mail those in). That means I can stay drunk on Fleischmann's Gin for 2 weeks for the price of a bottle of Bombay Sapphire which will only last me 1/2 week. I like Fleischmann's Gin and it makes a decent martini, so it's a no brainer.
I buy Fleischmann Vodka too because it is usually around $12/handle and it doesn't give me wicked hangovers. It's all about the hangover for me. If I can drink cheap and wake up feeling human, then I drink cheap.

I personally avoid this whole problem by buying middle level stuff and buying cheaper backup drinks.
Pricy booze is for ocassions, or when you happen to have too much money.
On the other hand I am young person without too much regular income at the moment.
