Patchez, what are your thoughts on Old Overholt, Rittenhouse Rye, and Dickel Rye?
I'm not Patchez but I strongly recommend the Dickel rye. Go for it if you get the chance. Tasty stuff.

I long for the days, and not too long ago as recent as 2010, when you could get a liter of Rittenhouse for not much over $10. It was incredibly cheap yet fulfilling entertainment to empty a bottle with a friend or two over good conversation.

Tattersall uses 100% Minnesota grain for its rye whiskey.

BF, calling Mr. BF
That’s a really great whiskey I would not hesitate to buy again. Other honorable mentions include Templeton, Sazerac and Redemption.

No this if offtopic, but neither my local liquor store or the supermarkets around me had Bun or Ardbeg, would Johnnie Walker Black Double Black be an acceptable intro for peated scotches?
I've never had Double Black -- just Black, which is not a good representation of peated whisky (it's a bit bland).

Maybe you could try looking for Caol Ila 12. It's a peated Islay Scotch that goes into the JW Black blend, and should be under 100$. Excellent whisky on its own.

Now you've got me lusting after some peat...
Don't worry. We're in no hurry.

What a glorious day!
First a semi truck hit a phone pole and took out the power at work so HALF DAY!
Then on my way home I stopped at the candy store and they now have DICKEL RYE in the HANDLE BOTTLE!
WOOP WOOP!
Like a desperate thirst in a raging drought

It has long been a dream of mine to smoke multiple substances and sing opera while behind the wheel of a race car.

Do you think the world is ready for DRUNKCAR yet? Every 10 laps or so, all the drivers would have to pull over at the trackside dive bar and do stunt shots of Gran Legacy and Malört Dill Aquavit sours. Then after 50 laps, whoever is left gets a Glock and 2 mags of ammo. It’s still in the conceptual phase though I believe we could still sell the pitch to Fox Sports.

How do you do BadFellow?
I am terribly sorry but I hardly know what Rye is. The thing is that during my last vacation in your fiiiiiine (southern drawl) country, I drank something called "Cowboy Bourbon" or "Bourbon Cowboy". Some kinda cocktail, some kinda redneck Aperol Spritz. They wrote down the ingredients for me and back in Europe, I remember asking a bartender for it. He said he didn't have any "Rye". Unfortunately, I have lost the paper but I also remember there was some kinda citrus. Have you or somebody ever heard of that drink?

Far North Roknar Minnesota Rye(looking at you Badfellow)
Well, I did pick up a bottle to try and it's pretty freakin' good. I'll pick another one up for you. The same store also had a Maryland style rye by Far North that looked most intriguing. They also carry all the Tattersall ryes including the bonded 4 year.

No need. The wife already found the Far North for me. Thanks though.

I tried the Balcones Rye on Nausea's advice and he has never lead me wrong because it was pretty good. It was very deep a rich in flavor, which I didn't know was a trait of Texas Whiskey's because the super hot weather down there ages the whiskey faster. But seriously, this stuff tasted like chocolate and coffee, I wasn't prepared.

There's a Rye whiskey out of Kentucky called First Call that I like. The Wild Turkey Rye 101 is back. For a while I couldn't find that stuff anywhere.

Of course Maryland's producing Sagamore Rye. They have a Rum Cask Finish Rye that I've been dying to try, don't know if you've had it Patch.

There's just so much out there now. What a time to be alive.
