ear worms have recently been in the news, there was some study of why a particular tune keeps playing in your head (the kitkat jingle, etc.) Haven't had any for a while, but lately been suffering with a mild rap one I don't know the name of or the artist but have heard on the station my wife leaves on when she drives my car:
Sipping on coke and rum
So what I'm drunk
It's the freaking weekend baby
gonna have me some fun
[repeat endlessly]
ear worms

Ear worm song
The song's title is "ignition" and the artist is R. Kelly. I happen to know this since it was playing on the jukebox that I had to hold up one night. They should make those jukeboxes with wider bases or something.

:x Hey! I think they got that idiom from the German language: Ohrwurm.
My friend started a thread on it on another board 2 weeks ago. So I posted this for him:

You're out of your league, go back to your own village!
Funny, I was just talking about that phenomenon last night. Now it has a name.
I always get 'red river rock' in my head at the oddest times, walking through the grocery, sitting on the can. Its really strange. The only time I ever remember hearing that song was in the movie Planes trains and automobiles.
I had it in my head for so long I figured out how to play it on guitar so I could ask people what it was.
