Cool it actually surprises me to see some Dutch people on here. Although I've never seen anybody with a 'getting loaded' shirt or anything showing a connection to MDM around here on the streets.

If you advertise to people that you are drinking, especially by acting like an ass-neck, you're going to be ticketed or arrested in every locality.

This basically sums up my thoughts on the matter. Most of the people I've known who got arrested for public intox are the ones who get exceptionally loud after a margarita and a half.

I'd drink at the Riverwalk more often, if they had better deals. Damn tourist traps are pricey.

Damn right! That's one thing I like about absinthe, I can be shitfaced and not appear drunk in the least. As for drinking in public, I have a fake "alternative medicine" container so that I like like a health enthusiast while tippling.

Yes, I live here in the ridiculous teetolaling state. I wish I could say it hasn't happened to me but it has. And I wasn't even tipsy at that point. You can only drink in your house in VA or at an establishment that's licensed and certainly not in a public park or anywhere decent to have a nice glass of wine as you take in mother nature.

I disagree, we have wineries all over VA where you can sit outside enjoying the sceinery and get hammered. We just went to Bluemont vineyard for the first time yesterday and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The even have live music some nights.

Agreeably so if you don't live in Loudoun or Fairfax County. You know, right out of DC where the Christian Right/Republican Fascists live. No one has been able to have a decent drink around here without the polices shaking you down since Clinton. They dropped into Jimmy's Tavern in Herndon and arrested people at the bar for drunk in public - and NO they weren't being rowdy.

I know many Southern Virginians who live in wine country and are pleasant drinkable folks. But the man sucks around DC.

Well here in Croatia you can drink wherever you want, in fact most of the young people do their drinking in park. If the cops come they just ask your ID and that's that. Ofc when the weather is bad we go to bars some but in the summer/spring time you'll see a LOT of people spending their friday/saturday nights at a park, parking lot, football stadium, school yard (these are all the place where I go boozing ^^ )

Hah, a friend told me one time when they went drinking and cops came another guy took all their booze and threw it in the trash can....and the cops were WTF? Why did you threw that?

Croatia sounds like a civilized place.

In many parts of Europe, even if you're not supposed to be drinking outside, in a park or on the street, if the police catch you -- and YOU are not an abusive asshole -- they will tell you to put it away, or go inside, or at the worst, make you toss an open container without a top in the trash.

And walking outside a bar with a drink, where it's not permitted, usually only results in a verbal reprimand.

I mean friday and saturday, if the weather is warm enough you can go to a certain parks and see every bench taken by groups of people sitting and boozing. Only trouble comes when you're acting like an idiot or have been know to carry certain illegal substances. I never, ever, had any trouble with cops
