I was lucky enough to grab a bottle of the low ABV version of Maker's. Sort of a battle trophy.

No Sir. Trophy remains in it's original state.mistah willies wrote:...And you still have the empty bottle, huh. Ahhh, memories.Patchez wrote:I was lucky enough to grab a bottle of the low ABV version of Maker's. Sort of a battle trophy.

Even when I was still drinking whiskey, JD wasn't my fave. Left an acidic aftertaste that I didn't like. Jim Beam went down remarkably easy though. Had a bottle of Four Roses once... Made that one last a while...

In addition the above posted I offer this:
A condition of the sale to Brown Foreman was that they never alter the recipe of Old #7. If they did the rights and ownership would return to the Motlow family. Purists amongst us believe a lower proof has changed the recipe. (Patchez, even the 86 proof was watered down).
Some may say, "it's just a little more water". They're right. I counter by asking what would happen if you added 10% more water to your grandmother's best cake recipe? Would it be the same? I damned sure it wouldn't and JD isn't the same either.

Re: Why the Hating on Jack Daniel's
I agree on the topic of TJD vs Beam, I much prefer the latter. I don't know about a battle ship, as per the Skynyrd lyric, but I have definitely put enough Beam white label away to float a small canoe.oldsmartskunk wrote:Yes sir, Mr. Beam all the way! I salute you!ThirstyDrunk wrote:no hate

Re: Why the Hating on Jack Daniel's
The bit that bothered me about the whole JD stink was that they didn't tell anybody, but claimed the change was due to market research. If they were giving the people what they wanted, why didn't they shout it from the rooftops?

In Ireland I asked them for barrel proof and they said they were not allowed to sell it as the gingers would become too inebriated.TheDrunkardAnglo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2015 9:33 amThis thread makes me want to buy cask strength whisky.
