Brilliant! I was unaware that it existed! I must own it!

That is quite peculiar, I thought I had read everything written by Heinlein but had never heard about this one. Man drinking brings a new reward everyday.frankennietzsche wrote:I just started Farnham's Freehold by Heinlein.

Farnham's Freehold is, what Wikipedia calls his "Middle Novels", published in 1965. Supposedly, it is one of his more scandalous works.Mr Boozificator wrote:That is quite peculiar, I thought I had read everything written by Heinlein but had never heard about this one. They've just started releasing new editions of his earlier "young men space adventure" books, some of which I had never heard of before. Snazzy new cover art that harkens back to the pulp days.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.
It passes both time, drink and recovery.

19Q4. It was written by a Jap author, so some syntax veritably assault the civilized Western intellect. But I'll say this: it's over 1000 pages and goddamn if I'm not very close to finishing it. Compelling, mysterious stuff!

Not his best, in my opinion, but by no means his worst. Have you tried Glory Road?frankennietzsche wrote:Farnham's Freehold is, what Wikipedia calls his "Middle Novels", published in 1965. Me, I've been on a big Christopher Moore bender lately. I'm currently laughing my way through Lamb.

Re: What are you reading?
In having to choose between Farnham's Freehold & Glory Road, I chose the former because it wascheaper, to be honest. For some reason, I decided to go on a Heinlein-dominated science fiction reading spree, recently.waahoohah wrote: Not his best, in my opinion, but by no means his worst. Have you tried Glory Road?
