the man at the packy loves me
we dropped $160.00 there last night. i realized thios morning i need to go back because we forgot wine. we did however get vodka, beer, tequila, tuaca, deersneck, goldschlager and red bull. i got stinking plastered last night and i might just do it again today. if it happens, i'll blame shmoo because i started my drinking with him this morning. frickin' shmoo.
it's all good in the woods, nobody hears me when i scream.

sorry tony, no bourbon. we don't go through it that quick here so it wasn't in need of restocking. i'm a beer and tequila man and the wife does the voddie thing mostly. don't worry though, if you ever find your way down to our little hamlet we'll be stocked to overflowing.Mayhem wrote:What, no Bourbon?

I was so confused by the term packy at first. I didn't know that it was an abreviation of Package Store (a place to send parcels?) so assumed that it was the same as used in the UK, a derogatory term for a shop owned by a person of Pakistani descent, or indeed a person of Pakistani descent.
In the UK many cornershops (7-eleven equivalents) are owned by "Paki's" so I was rather shocked to see a similar word bandied about so much of late. The word is as unacceptable in the UK as Nigger.
Anyway, glad to have sorted out my misunderstanding, but be careful if you are ever in the UK and say that you want to go to the 'Packy' to buy some booze! It may be different when typed, but not when spoken.

still makes no sense to me . . . a "package" store? The Lush wrote:I was so confused by the term packy at first. just call it the liquor store! (but the term "packy" is kind of cute!)
I guess it varies by state, but people in AZ and Atlanta and CA can actually get their booze at a grocery store, whereas those in NY and Maine and who knows where else have to make a special trip to the liquor store. It sucked before they were open on Sunday, particularly, but it would be so much more convenient if I could just buy booze at the grocery store, although in Atlanta, the packies weren't open on Sundays.happydrunk wrote: Still makes no sense to me . . . a "package" store?

Glad to have been a bad influence. :D I woke up from my nap a bit ago. Still woozy too. No more boozing until after bowling this evening. Need to venture outside and see what the world is up to.treetop wrote:no. not that fortunate. we were however sitting in front of our respective machines earlier and imbibing. he, the jameson's and i, the screwdriver.Tipsy McStagger wrote:You live within an arm's reach of SHMOOber? Oh, the Jameson's is gone too. Those 5ths seem to get smaller every day.

those damn small bottles are a menace. if you've still got a few inches left in a handle, you can put it away and know there is still a little good boozing left there. with a fifth, if you're down to the three or four inch mark, you might as well point the bottom at the sky and the business end down yer throat. smarmy marketing bastards and their little bottles. mutter mutter. :evil:Shmoo wrote: Oh, the Jameson's is gone too.
