I like the site garv, You've definitely put some time in, When I have time to watch movies I will use your reference. I think the same concept would work for booze tunes-there are many lists of favorites out there, but few with in depth reviews. Maybe I will have time after the WSOP.

Just put Bad News Bears on my netflix list. I've always liked Walter Mathou and he looks like a drunky too.

I watched Never Give a Sucker an Even Break yesterday. Not the best Fields film, but good enough. There's this one bit where he dives off an aeroplane to rescue a bottle of brandy, falls 15'000 feet then lands in the bed of a beautiful woman. Heroic stuff.

It was true, he indulged in the sauce. However, his biggest vice was the dice. The man loved to gamble.
Re: Booze Movies: The 100 Proof Film Guide
I just posted a review of MOONRUNNERS (1975), the film that inspired the TV series THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, on "Booze Movies: The 100 Proof Film Guide" Other recent reviews include...
I'LL CRY TOMORROW (1955)
OLD SCHOOL (2003)
HIS FAVORITE PASTIME (1914)
THE LAST FLIGHT (1931)
Stop by for a movie and a drink (not necessarily in that order) if you get the chance.
Cheers,
garv

I like your site really but why haven't you gotten to Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle yet? Also you might want to include documentaries of interest, Born Into This and Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride come to mind.
The last thing that anyone should ever do is feel ashamed of blacking out. You were trying to get drunk last night and, goddamnit, mission accomplished.

I also feel you undervalue Where the Buffalo Roam. Plot or the lack of it hardly seems the point.
