Pouring the first glass of Franzia Chillable Red. My new laptop arrived yesterday and it finally got all its updates downloaded. I've got it set up the way I want it - networking disabled so I can write without being easily distracted by the internet. It's an HP Envy, $600! Ouch!
Re: What are you drinking right now?
Picked up a six-pack of tall PBR (16 oz size). Not really sure why, I still have plenty of 12 oz cans in here. I guess I just like the look of the 16 oz can.
Reading the biographies of these famous hard-drinking writers and the mental/physical problems they had are oddly comforting. (I just finished a Raymond Chandler biography and a Jack London biography.) There's such a thing as heavy drinking, and then there's such a thing as drinking like a dumbass. Chandler continued drinking after vomiting up blood. London drank even after his feet and ankles were swollen with gout (and kept eating meat even after the doctors told him to cut back. He had some recipe for duck that he really liked. I would imagine fatty duck would be about the worst thing a gout patient could eat.) Of Bukowski, Chandler, Hitchens, London, and Parker, Buk lived the longest, dying at 74. London died youngest at 40, but he also had a bunch of shit wrong with him from all his travels under extreme conditions. I think I can drink everyday for the next 17 years and I'll beat Bukowski. An interesting thing about Bukowski's drinking is that he ended up in the hospital after he had bleeding ulcers in his stomach. He literally had blood coming out of his ass and mouth. The doctors told him if he ever took another drink, it would kill him. He kept drinking for another thirty years after that.

Good computers are totally worth the money. I can't believe I put up with my Asus for so long -- now it collects dust.
Don't worry. We're in no hurry.

It is Friday and I have a powerful thirst that can only be quenched by Benchmark 8 and Evan Williams.

I like to drink tequila for lunch because it gives me an immediate buzz. Then I proceed to the vodka
Drink!
