I'm going to assume most of you have not heard of the Canadian poet Al Purdy (or many of his contemporaries), but there have been a good number of poems written in Canada about drinking. Not putting it aside as something special, exactly, but including it in the realm of things like romance, emotion, etc.

A Poem
Wine comes in at the mouth,
And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.
Yeats
And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.
