When I was a kid (1950s-60s) in SoCal, the guys of my dad's generation, who were mostly 35-45yo WWII vets, usually drank the various offerings from the local Maier Brewery; names like Brew 102, Eastside, Heidel Brau, A-1, etc. These beers didn't taste very good but they were cheap and available everywhere. I can remember 25c quarts and $1.50 12-packs in the mid-1960s.

Me and my pals grew up pilfering this swill from our dads and even into my early-20s, I considered Budweiser, Busch and Schlitz to be high-end beers. In fact, I was @24yo before I even started drinking Bud regularly.

Out of all these, I've only had budweiser, which I used to enjoy in bars at home, but then I found this:

It's still 5% in bottles, but in the UK they seem to be priced as some sort of premium beer, for about £1 a bottle. I'm off to be sick now, I'm that disgusted

Didn't anyone tell the hipster blog douche that all the trendy kids are drinking PBR and other "cheap" beer. Notice cheap was in quotations? Because of the hipster asshole the price of the cheap stuff has gone up by 5 to 8 bucks a case. Those dicks are stupid enough to pay that price.

Last year I switched to micros, I'd avoided them because of the snobbery bullshit. Then one day I realized that I was letting the attitudes of others keep me from something I really enjoyed. Good beer. I also realized that with the douches switching to and driving up the prices of the cheap stuff that, due to generally higher ABVs of the good shit that dollar for dollar you're paying about the same for your buzz.

On a semi related topic all these hipster turds are invading my favorite dive bars, trying to look "dangerous". So lately I've taken to going to craft and micro brew bars. Returning the invasion as it were. I love the looks on the regulars when my hairy ass walks through the door.

I was chatting with a beer distributor the other day and he mentioned that bars are really digging the whole craft beer thing because it makes the margins insane. A half-barrel keg of a local craft brew could run $200, but it holds about 120 pints. A lot of these "beer bars" charge $6-$8 a pint for the craft stuff. So they have the thing paid for after about 30 beers, with the next NINETY pours being profit.

I'll stick with Schlitz.
I have to agree with Jiggers on this one. I can deal with the idea of giving up all of those beers except for the Schlitz... somehow, it just does it for me. In fact, I think I'm going to go out tonight and drink some Schlitz just because some pretentious a-hole on the internet said I shouldn't.

While I appreciate your love of all beverages, I must continue to abide by a code I have followed since my early teens that if a beer causes grievous hangover or is markedly more disgusting than other beers in its price (and alcoholic strength) range, then I should warn against its consumption. I'm not going to refrain from denouncing Beast regular, when Beast Ice is stronger and better. I also have to speak against Natural light and ice because and the whole Beast product line is better than it but costs the same. On a similar note, MGD is better than Bud, but Bud is still drinkable.

I can't think of anything I won't drink. As far as trends and hipsters ruining your good time, you have to muscle through it.

I like PBR no matter if it's just me, or if every geezer, frat guy, punk, inconspicuous consumer dude drinks it. Oh wait. That's me.

Is the new PBR. They even raised the prices.

I stay sipping on High Life when I'm out and about, but at home its 30-packs of Beast anymore. I've got bills, shit.

Honestly, though, if you need to read an article about what Men Do ...

Somebody in a Wall Street cubicle turning to somebody else saying "What'd we do today besides click on a mouse and steal somebody's savings? Isn't there more to being a man?" And his brosef goes, "What, dude? We're not gay! We go to the gym! Look at your triceps and look at mine! We don't have guts, we've got abs, that's why! We're MORE manly, that's all. Here, I'll write an article to prove it!"
