I still remember my first taste of Segram’s 7 at age nine. I miss you, Papa!

I've probably mentioned this, but my grandparents on one side were from sicily. When my pop was a baby, they gave him wine when he was fussy, especially when teething. Worked quite well. He's now a 61 yr old college professor. Yeah, that booze, it really must kill lotsa brain cells. They guy does algebra problems for fun, and that was after a couple cocktails and glasses of wine everyday when he got home from work.

Got my first single malt from my grandfather at the age of nine. He kept topping up the glass until I was pished. I never looked back.
I miss him.

'Designer booze' with no hangover (newspaper article)

Post by danger awesome »

Personally, i'm not sure i like this article (the writer gets a hangover from 3 drinks?!) but thought it would be interesting to see what you all think of it and the concept of 'designer booze'.

(Picture had to be big in order to be readable, it's 442kb, so may take a little tim to load i'm afraid)

Booze without a hangover would be like having sex without the accidental offspring. Taking away the risk of a bad trip and having a righteous hangover would eliminate some of the suspense of boozing. You could booze and have no regrets.

When I die, I want to look back and regret a few minor things.

Legislature votes for booze to be made in state
02/07/2007

LINCOLN (AP) - Liquor connoisseurs across the state have cause to toast state senators, and teetotalers reason to jeer them.
After an extensive debate about how much booze is enough, the Legislature gave first-round approval to a bill (LB549) that would allow small-scale distilleries in the state. Whiskey, vodka and other distilled spirits could be made at retail locations, much like beers are made at brewpubs, and then sold onsite and to wholesalers for distribution.
The original bill capped at 21,000 gallons the amount of booze distilleries could make annually, but lawmakers dropped the lid to 10,000 gallons.
Nationally the number of so-called microdistilleries is growing as the demand for alcohol products perceived to be more high-end has increased. Upstream Brewing Co., a Nebraska brewpub, is pushing for the bill, introduced by Sen. John Synowiecki of Omaha.

I found it a bit ironic myself.

Wow, I thought Kansas was backward, but at least we have this.

The vodka is, well, vodka. The whiskey is really vanilla-ey. I may have to try it again.
Gin, rum, and (gasp) tequila? Haven't seen them, and frankly, I'm cool with that.
