After hitting it like a maniac for so long, I thought to myself, there's gotta be something online about the drinking culture. I searched for a bit and this place popped up, read the magazine (hilarious) then checked the forums and they were active as all hell. Signed up on the spot.

I stumbled upon the Andre The Giant article (archives) and followed it in here.

Interesting question.

My route here was a bit more circuitous than others. My drinking habits were still very "college level" when I moved to DC. It was my first experience living in a big city. Wasn't really used to "grown up" drinking, didn't know the difference between a martini and a manhattan, was just starting to get into the real culture aspect of boozing. Part of this was starting homebrewing. I joined the email list of a homebrew supply store and one of the updates they sent out included an uncredited, abridged version of the "86 Rules of Boozing" article. I thought it was great. It crystallized so many of my own feelings about the sauce. I started googling to find the original article, found the mag site, read every article. Then, lurked for a bit and joined up.

Thanks for having me!

How did I end up here?

Well.....

It was a dark and stormy night. Mainly because all I had was Black Seal Rum and Ginger Beer.

I don't remember much after that.

I don't remember. It's interesting to me that I joined on my dad's birthday, and that said birthday was shared with my next wife a bit later.

Bottom line is a) I was surely drunk, and b) that this was a fun place to drink many moons ago.

Chat is better now though. Much love.
