Did my liquor store fuck up their prices?

Post by Hugh »

A 12-pack of Miller 12 oz cans costs $11.41

A six-pack of Hamm's 16 oz cans costs $8.93.

Miller costs $0.079 per ounce.

Hamm's costs $0.093 per ounce.

Hamm's is more expensive than Miller.

This should NOT be the case, should it?

Liquor stores are always looking for a way to grift drunkards because we tend to not be so great at math at certain times.

My liquor store sells Burnett Vodka, $10.99 for a fifth.

So I went to the counter and asked if they had the Burnett in pints, the owner was like yeah, "$3.99 a bottle." So I asked for two. I guess he had seen me in the Vodka section looking at the fifths, because he sheepishly mumbled, "yeah, I guess that's better..."

You damn right, you ass! He was charging 11 dollars for a fifth that you could buy (a pint at a time) for 8.

I don't know if this is a thing that's just done, but it seems downright criminal

Years back Genesee started selling six packs of 16oz cans. I've long forgotten the prices but it dawned on me one day that six 16 oz cans (96oz of
beer) was the equivalent of eight 12oz cans(also 96oz of beer). I also noticed that two 6 packs of 16oz cans was about the same price as one 12 pack of 12oz cans at this corner store that I'm thinking of. 12 16oz beers for the cost of 12 12 oz beers. I could also get one sixer of regular Genny and one of the scream ale which I drank at the time. It was an awesome couple of months til they figured that one out and adjusted the prices. Or my math was off and eventually reallity came crashing down.

We have tiny double shot bottles at every cashier, right above the candy (that`s on children`s sight height).

To fill a single vodka bottle with these you`d have to buy 17 I think.

One shot bottle costs around 1 buck 50. One vodka bottle of that kind is around 10 bucks. You do the math.

Then there a also the pints that are just overprized by a 1,5 to 1 ratio.

This stuff is there for bums who can`t pay for a normal sized bottle or idiots.

The 12 pack of PBR is 12.49, which is one dollar more than the Miller High Life.

Am I misunderstanding here? I had always been under the impression that PBR was "dog water" or "skunk beer." To see it being more expensive than Miller High Life was a shock.

I was about to say, the "hipster stock" of PBR has gone up in recent years. I'm sure Hugh's store owner is just trying to take advantage.

After drinking two cans of Miller, I just opened a PBR. I definitely prefer the taste of Miller, although PBR is not bad.
