On our first stop, we met up with Badfellow to bag us some whitetail and Minnesota Buck.

He promised that we would be hunting over food plots, alfalfa fields, bean fields, acorn ridges, natural edges, funnels, swamp edges and bottlenecks on over 3,600 acres. All hunts were to be on private land with exception of a couple muzzy/bow hunts in prime areas where deer head to crop fields. All the whitetail hunts were 100% Free Range and would be from heated elevated box blinds, ladder stands and ground blinds.

He recommend that we sit in the stand all day to increase our chances of tagging out on a Minnesota Buck.

On our first day, Badfellow, showed us around the place. Amenities included an outfitters station where we purchased the latest in hunting gear. The three of us purchased SITKA early season layering systems which is aimed at moisture management and temperature regulation. The layering comprises Baselayers, Mid/insulation layers, and Outwear. We made sure that our new gear was built from GORE-TEX, GORE-TEX INFINIUM with WINDSTOPPER, and GORE OPTIFADE Concealment; we were sure to stay warm, safe from wind, and there would be no extra puffiness, helping us to move easily and silently.

Our next stop was the Hunter's Lodge, a quaint little restaurant with a full bar. We decided to have a few drinks while Badfellow described how we would be spending the next five days.

After a half dozen Captain Morgan and Cokes each, we decided to blow off the hunting until the next day.

Days two, three, four, and five were also spent at Hunter's Lodge where we took many shots, killed six bar liters of Captain, and met many nice people.

I can help y'all out in the area of big game fishing (guessing the Seaman also can), tropical BBQ, and tiki cocktails. Or if you don't have your sea legs, beer drinking and catfish fishing in the Midwest by way of canoe. There is no lifeguard on duty so life jackets and/or water wings are a must at all times while doing any kind of fishing. I ain't doing any drunkard mouth to mouth. (That's what she said).

Yes, we made sure to outfit the boys properly with Holland & Holland museum grade hunting rifles chambered in .500 Nitro Express. That’s right, burl walnut furniture with ivory inlay and detailed engraving of a rustic, English hunting scene on the receivers and barrels. These fine rifles would be sure to turn heads at Hunters Lodge, The Sportsman Inn, The Hideaway, The Knotty Pine, The Rusty Nail, The Long Lake Supper Club, The Brick Bar & Grill, the VFW and the municipal liquor store.

If by "acorn" you mean liquor and "ridges" you mean bars, then the acorn ridges are lovely this time of year.

Who's got four thumbs and is up for some mountain climbing?

WE ARE!

At 29,031 feet, Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth. Challenge accepted, motherfuckers. We wanted to do this right. So we purchased Petzl Fly Harnesses; Mammut 8.7 Alpine Sender Dry Ropes; waterproof, durable, highly breathable Summit L4 soft-shell pants with clip-on suspenders for easy on-off and Kevlar kick patches that prevent crampon snags; Outdoor Research Archangel Jackets which are constructed from durable Gore-Tex Pro to keep us dry in blizzards; Petzl Irvis Hybrid Crampons; Black Diamond Vision MIPS Helmets; a pair of Black Diamond ­Raven Pro Ice Axes; and Bolle Pro goggles.

At about 16,400 feet above sea level, the base camp at K2 is a collection of multicolored tents on a long, gray spine of rocks beneath the southern face of the mountain. We arrived to find about three dozen other people all spending three or four days acclimating to the altitude before beginning the incredible climb.

Honestly, this seemed to be the best place on Earth. It was one huge party with plenty of booze.

Every day, we said goodbye to those heading up the mountain, and those heading home as well as new climbers joining us for acclimatization.

So we stayed there, for two weeks, drinking rum with a rotation of new and old friends joining us in drinking games, growing beards, and telling dirty jokes.

Our answer to the often asked question "when are you heading up?" was always "we're getting ready."

Did somebody mention Aspen? The week spent at the resort was one of the highlights of my life!

Just the name "Aspen" conjures up images of a winter playground for the rich and famous. Although part of the so-called Aspen Pledge is to “forego high fashion and dress for high elevations,” it’s likely you’ll find a majority of people making some type of major style statement. And we would not be outdone. This world renowned ski area began in the 1940s as a civic and cultural renaissance which is known, to this day, as “The Aspen Idea” by locals.

We were there for exclusive adventures and amenities designed to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. So we chose Little Nell, a world class ski-in/ski-out hotel complex.

Located just steps from Aspen’s slopes, the resort is a contemporary version of a Gilded Age mountainside manor which provides an uncompromising base for arbiters of fine food and wine, connoisseurs of culture and adventure seekers. From classic guest rooms to the Presidential Suite and Residence Club, rooms are outfitted with custom furnishings including a leather bed and desk and exquisite marble bathrooms that offer double vanities and plush bathrobes. Guests are treated to an epicurean adventure.

We came equipped for a full week of skiing adventure. We both chose Sweet Protection Switcher MIPS Helmets; Interstellar goggles, with their proprietary RIG lens technology, which allows each of their lenses to remain pigment-neutral to our eye’s color detection to reduce eye fatigue, enhance contrast (so we won't get caught off guard by a roller or undulation in the snow); Merino 250 Base Layer One Pieces; Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Down Hoodies; Houdini Rollercoaster Jackets; and Rab Pivot GTX Gloves because no one has time for cold hands in the mountains.

We also chose Ugg Hendren TL Boots due to their functionality and waterproof leather liner with ultra-soft wool blend.

Within minutes after arriving, we discovered Chair 9, a locals' favorite bar. It was there where we met new friends as they headed out for a day on the slopes or returned, tired from a long day of skiing. The bartenders were real pros and managed to keep the Rum and Coke flowing for five straight days. Our pat answer to all of our new friends queries about "when are you guys heading up the hill?" was simply "were getting ready".

What a great week.
