Tomorrow is a special day...

Post by Mr Boozificator »

Tomorrow is the eleventh of november. In 1918 on the same day ended the biggest and stupidest battle Europe ever fought.
Our neighbors call this day remembrance day and I think it's a fine name.
I've posted about that before and shall keep on doing it each year.
There was no point, no achievement in the end, just misery and our downfall in the name of childhood quarrels.
May this never happen again and cheers to all those brave men who died for obscure reasons, whatever side they were fighting on.
No more trenches.
I raise my glass and hope they get a share of it in heaven.

I liked the sequel better.

World War III will be a war of the poor against business and start when a whistleblower is killed by an unmanned drone. Times have sure changed.

We shall never forget.

I can't imagine the misery and fear experienced by the ordinary people drafted to fight in the cold and mud and the uncertainty and the fear. Some guy took a photo of some of the names on the war memorial in my home town: My next few drinks are for these guys and all the rest...

Today I am ashamed. Things were so crazy, I did not email my Marine a Happy Birthday.

To those who answered their country's call and especially to those who gave all.

As a German, I'd just like to say, I appreciate the sacrifice of everybody who fought in both WWs.

But seriously, give us back all our cash and territory.

Hey, we already gave up on a fair share of the Mosel valley, with all this fine white wine, now don't start.
Plus you already have all the beer.
Who shared the recipe with us? NO ONE!

I seriously hope you're joking; albeit in poor taste.

He IS joking Gene, I want him to be joking.
So, when is the next time we meet in the middle of nowhere?
I happen to have friends who know friends who know a place where we'd be in dire need for a piano player at the end of May.
