I would love to drink at work, however the fact that I work with 480v electrical power and 120v on down control voltages, means I have to abstain.

I sure do miss it though. Back when I was in the Air Force we were ALLOWED a two drink lunch. Yes. You read that right. There was a strip club right off the main gate about two blocks out. They had those convenience store hot dog rollers there with dogs on them. Buns and fixin's beside it. As long as tou got the drink minimum, 2, dogs were free.

The place was packed with Airman everyday of the work week at lunch.

Damn I miss that place and that time.

I worked at 6 bars and the only place I didn't drink was ironically when I worked the VIP bar at the baseball stadium. Most of those bars I was half in the bag most of the time I worked. Always high-functioning though. At my current job it's government work, so not worth taking a chance.

I run a candy warehouse so I keep a bottle of peppermint schnapps in the bottom desk drawer. It's there, look there behind the employee and company info files.
Just to keep the edge off, don't ya know.

I don't drink at work for safety reasons, because I I do a lot of driving. I'd drink at meetings if the atmosphere seemed right. I turned up to let and electrician in, still drunk, last week. I don't think I'll hear the end of it. He is never around before ten but for some reason he phoned me at 7am and caught me off guard, like a zombie. I had barely got into bed.

Jeez ya skeezes, there are two things invented by man that will withstand the taste of time:

Booze and candy. One for the MDMers, and the other for the pre-MDMers. Don't get me started on liquor pops.

My job is stacking cases on pallets, and I've spend a lot of time dodging forklifts, so drinking ON the job is out of the question. But I take a van service to and from work, and sometimes I get a shooter bottle and a bottle of mixer (if I carried a flask in my bag, somebody could smell it and find it). Pour the shooter into the mixer, and good times!

Been working from home a lot lately which brings its own benefits and temptations. A 4pm beer on the wind-down is normal but one day recently started earlier. Skype is the killer - get that beer out of screen-shot before answering the call!

Never drank on the job because I was always in a high pressure Wall St. banker IT situation with apps running all day. The problem was when I went home at night to unwind and maybe get a little plastered, I'd get a call in the middle of the night to fix a major computer meltdown. Was not a lot of fun. So, had to make sure I could only drink when some backup was working the calls. Glad I'm retired. I can drink all the time now. WTF, I earned it!
