My doctor recommended we install a bar in our shower. What a good idea, I thought. So Grumpy went to his home away from home, Home Depot, and bought the necessaries. So far, it's working out pretty well, but I'm finding it difficult to keep the soap out of my bourbon.

Please don't. When I think about Rutger Hauer I get all weak and trembly and nothing Grumpy says or does can please me. I would buy a Maker's scented soap, but I can't drink in the shower, I despise plasticware, and am safety conscious since my leg surgery.

However,I cannot sleep, because Grumpy is still nauseated all the time, as though he was still undergoing chemo. The doctor (the same doctor who did my chemo some years ago), says this is normal. He never told me that. In fact, I never threw up during the months-long treatment. I was just very, very, tired. Also, I lost weight. I got down to my high school weight, which was good, except that my pants hung on me like two-legged sacks. Which they do now, when that I am a healthy grandma. Also, I think I am shrinking, as everything is too long for me. Weird. I'm only sixty-five. Grumpy is much older, and he is not well, and he sicks up a lot. I'm very worried about him.

And the saddest thing is, he can no longer drink his beloved bourbon. It makes him barf.

I'm really scared about him. He is still throwing up all the time. I was a barfy kid, but I got over it. I got cancer and post treatment damage that almost killed me, but I'm still here. Tom can't even drink his beloved bourbon anymore. He is asleep now, probably making all those horrible snory noises, but I'm a natural night owl so no worries. I'm listening to Brian Wilson singing God Only Knows right now, and I totally get it. I don't know what I'll do without him. I thought I would die first, even though I'm younger, but cancer is hitting him so much harder than it did me. Fuck cancer.

The doctor gave him a speech about final directives and all that crap. I hate that there is nothing I can do. If cancer were a monster I could kill, I would kill it. He can't even drink his beloved bourbon anymore. When he sleeps, I drink it for him, because I don't know how I can live without him.
