Rick Huir, and he was hired on to our unit as a temporary worker. He passed away this morning.
We hired him back on a daily basis. He was a really hard worker, making maybe $40 a day after the temp agency took their share. He worked with us just over a month.
He would put away efffortlessly thousands of dollars worth of frozen, fresh, produce, . All while wearing our comapny-madated little black elfish looking slip on booties (your shoes have to be slip resistsant.)
It comes to light that he was actually homeless, living under a bridge near the Arkansas River.
He showed up every day, on time, with the same clothes, but always clean. He did, however, smell like alcohol in the mornings- everyone noticed. But I believe he was straight when he worked for us, just didn't hvae the necessary toothbrush/paste, etc.
Police reported him falling in the river, and when he was pulled out, he was unconscious. He was in a coma, and he died this morning. It was suspected as alcohol related.
I hate the big boss's attitude- he says it's deserved- it that's what alcohol does.
I will be there, as will will about 20 other co-workers. This man has no family at all alive. He deserves some dignity.
There but for the grace of God we go.

As goes us all, possibly, sweetheart. That's why you are special, because you're real, and you're grounded.Cheffie wrote:There but for the grace of God we go.
Thanks. And God bless.
