I have a soft spot for Beerfest (because of all the prejudice about us germans)
When I watched The lost weekend I was in love, albeit no happy ending, he gets undrunk... ooops spoiler alert
There are three Bukowski movies: Barfly, Factotum and of course Tales of Ordinary Madness, all are good

For a classic, Animal House.
For an all out laugh fest, Leaving Las Vegas.

Withnail and i! It is well paced, involves a lot of drinking and has many quotable moments.
I did like beerfest. This movie pretty much describes oettinger. I do believe he drinks ram piss!

Re: Your #1 Booze flick
My favorite drinking movies?
#1 would be Animal House, of course.
#2 is Strange Brew, the Bob and Doug McKenzie movie.
A close third is Swingers.
After that is Weird Science with a,couple of funny drinking scenes. The first one was when Kelly LeBrock took the two geeks to a blues club. The bartender just hands them two drinks, the geeks ask what they are, and the bartender just says, "Drink it!" Anthony Michael Hall talking like a bluesman afterwards was one of the funniest parts of the movie for me. The second one was at the party the geeks were throwing, and one of the guys from the blues club was tending bar. The bully, played by a young Michael Downey Jr., went up to the bar, introduced himself and his friend to the bartender. He answered, "What do you want?" Michael said bourbon and told he bartender to "just slide the bottle over here." The bartender struck back, "Why don't I take that bottle, and shove it up your ass?" Michael just replied, "A glass is fine."
The Year of Living Dangerously, an early '80s Australian flick starring a still young Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver rounds out my top five. Me plays a journalist, and there are plenty of bar scenes, but the most memorable one to me was the one at a hotel pool where Mel, Sigourney and her boss, a British colonel were talking, and the waiter hands them their drinks. The colonel looks at his and says, "What is this?" The waiter answered, "Your gin and tonic, sir." The colonel replied, "This is gin, tonic and ice." The waiter replied, "Gin and tonic always have ice." The colonel struck back, "Gin and tonic does NOT always have ice, Americans always order it with ice, I'm not an American, please send it back."

For an older movie and more serious "'Barfly''. 1980's Maybe some of you older guys casn relate. For me the 'The Hangover' Trilogy was a good time waster too. As far as TV I can't get enough of the time Homer Simpson at the brewery.

Oh shit. How could I forget My Favorite Year?
Fucking priceless. Peter O'Toole is just brilliant.
Trailer.
Not even close to the best scene. Funny though.
If I were truly plastered could I do this?

Re: Your #1 Booze flick
My favorites are the two most realistic bartender movies, or should i say films ever produced:
Cocktail
Coyote Ugly
I mean, they are almost documentaries. I beliebe that the form is called "ultrarealistic impresionism."
Classic.

"Withnail and I" - AGREED! Has all the components of drinking, intellect, and hilarity...hence my signature. :D I love it when they go out into the country.oldsmartskunk wrote:Withnail and i! It is well paced, involves a lot of drinking and has many quotable moments.

Although I do like Marwood better. And nobody knows that's his name (hence the "I") except the cat I once named Marwood.

Re: Your #1 Booze flick
But we all agree that Tom Cruise is the worst human being ever!
When I was hungover back in the day I always enjoyed "Last Man Standing", the 96` Bruce Willis neo-western. A perpetual drunk shooting people, cannot get any better, no happy nor bad ending. Underrated flick. Still got it on VHS (wink wink detective)
