Anything by Yoko Ono. I swear it's like the music of the angels!

I love listening to Mississippi John Hurt whilst drinking bourbon. Also a little bit of German beer garden music goes down well...

you can bring a bourbon on the rocks, and i tend to run the gambit between country, metal, rap, and 90's rock. whatever is going to make my wife rethink her decisions is what i'm trying to say, i guess.

Oh, that's a question of taste, is it not? I.e. the shitty taste of other over the awesome flavor of mine.

The fact of the matter is that, for me at least, this varies greatly with my mood. And, not to forget, what I drink at any given occasion.
If I'm drinking rum from a coconut I'm probably listening to some old surf rock or exotica. Martin Denny is a good choice.

If I'm chugging down gin and tonics or martinis I'm probably swinging it to some old Gainsbourg or naive 50's teen pop.
If I'm drinking neat vodka I'm eating pickles and listening to the silence.
If I'm drinking stout I'm liable to listen to the Pogues,Wolfe Tones and Dubliners. Or for a Scotch whisky or British ale binge maybe some 70's electric folk rock or folk songs.
If I'm sipping bourbon I'm probably listening to some Appalachian wash board, glass jug and banjo tunes played by bearded folks sporting toothless coal black grins.
If I'm drinking coffee and moonshine I'm probably listening to some Nordic fiddle music, played by some apprentice of the devil himself. Great for card games and pipe smoking.
If I'm drinking cheap pilsner I'm probably listening to old school metal of any given flavor, such as possessed, Bathory, Mercyful Fate to Order From Chaos.
If I'm hooching on the red wine I'm probably listening to whatever is on.

And I'll have a double white rugian with kumis on the side.

Real Mckenzies and dropkick murphys tend find their way on my drinking music selection over and over again. Lately some pogues and tom waits as well, when feeling like it. Actually pretty much depends on my general mood during drinking. George Thorogood is coming back to the playlists as well.

George Thorogood is great, especially "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". Real McKenzies and Dropkick murphys are in one of my punk mixes along with NOFX, Leftover Crack, Mad Caddies, Flogging Molly, and The Vandals.

Haven't seen a band I wouldn't listen to yet.

BTW, good thread, Thermon. You have found your people. Bring me a Manhattan.

Of course, when I'm tight, there's something about Split lip Rayfield that helps me along....
