As my life has now become a cartoon / Joseph Heller novel, where my head may explode at any time, I post this:

Found myself in the Matrix and took the red pill. Now I want the blue pill and my bottle and leave me alone.

Your Drunkard Theme Song:?

Post by Savage »

I'm gonna have to think about mine, and Grumpy is snoring. But what would your Drunkard theme song be?

Hard to say, and it would likely change a lot, but let's start with Pass That Bottle by The Devil's Daughters
but then, the soundtrack to Victory at Sea works too, then there's Hey Bartender, and let's not forget One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer...

I just listened to Fuck You I'm Drunk and I really liked it but I don't think I'm angry enough for that to be my song. I mean, the last time I threw bottles was when I was a little girl and I amused my little brother by throwing somebody's curbside pop bottles into the street to laugh at the sound. (We got yelled at and threatened and we ran away) It is very late, but I can't go to bed until Grumpy wakes up and staggers to bed, so I'm still thinking. And drinking.

Actually, I guess drinking songs are not quite the thing. Midnight, the Stars and You makes so much more sense. Because the real drinking songs are whatever maintains the mood of the mellow. I think I was born in the wrong era. Though I suppose I should switch to gin. Isn't that what my grandparents drank in the speakeasys? My grandmother was a newlywed in the very late nineteen twenties and she drank with grandaddy when she was a teenager.

Great song.

My theme would be Freakers Ball by Dr. Hook.

Down Payment Blues could be one of my themes. I often have holes in my shoes and doing nothing means a lot to me.

Comedy songs are great too. My boyfriend turned me on to Dr. Demento when I was fourteen. Cool old dude. The doc, not the boyfriend.
