But here is the best. Makes me in the mood for sex or sleep--yep, I know that sounds counterintuitive, but circumstances, circumstances.
Music for Lovers Only, Jackie Gleason. I have the same one my father had, a 10 inch 33rpm lp.

Re: Favourite Album
If you took both disks of Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" and took all the best songs to make one disk, it'd be that. Although same could be said of GNR's "Use Your Illusion".

Re: Favourite Album
I am sorting out our Halloween music. And the odd and funny thing is, one of my favorites has no attribution, and everyone and her cousin loves it. It is on a cd, so I must have bought it sometime in the last --yeah. I'll never know who made it, but it is great. I list it as "the purple and black cd with no name. Old. Great. Always a hit. "
Boys and girls (and anyone who is deciding): Halloween is almost upon us. Seriously. Gore Galore stopped taking orders a month or two ago. GET ON IT! Cheezwhiz, even Michaels has had Halloween stuff out for a week or two.

Re: Favourite Album
I will assume that you are meaning the Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds album ( and not the Goo Goo Dolls one.) That is a good one. Henry's Dream is my favorite, though.Fabricsoftner wrote:"Let Love In"
That was me. I think that they have several albums that are nearly perfect and "Sister" is my favorite.Someone mentioned Sonic Youth

Re: Favourite Album
It's all in the mood isn't it. And then there is the factor of nostalgic faves vs. current faves. Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds is the album that gets me gripped to this day, after a childhood listening to it every rainy Sunday afternoon, played by my father as i read the booklet that came with the double vinyl album. Others include
Wish You Were Here - P Floyd (I also love Animals)
Levelling The Land - The Levellers
Brothers - The Black Keys
Here - Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros
Esperanza - Manu Chao
By The Way - RHCP
Many more tbh and good call on the Nick Drake's Five Leaves Left upthread.

I would have to wobble between Momentary Lapse of Reason (Floyd) and Who's Next (The Who).

Re: Favourite Album
I never liked momentary lapse of reason. I didn't feel that it worked as an album, it feels a bit disjointed to me, though I do love the cover and some of the tracks, particularly learning to fly. I think Pink Floyd weren't the same after Rick Wright was firedResident Asshole wrote:I would have to wobble between Momentary Lapse of Reason (Floyd) and Who's Next (The Who).

Re: Favourite Album
The thing that altered PF imo was when Roger Waters went mad and tried to shut down the group (The Final Cut). He lost in court and the band were able to carry on but without their major song writer. The quality of their lyrics nosedived, although there was a lift in the atmosphere of the music.Mr. Viking wrote: I think Pink Floyd weren't the same after Rick Wright was fired
The video "Pink Floyd Live In Pompeii" is brilliant btw.

Indeed.
And yet, they found inspiration from when Syd Barrett finally did the same. Crazy Diamond song.
Why one and not the other? Perhaps they hit the wall... without Mr. Waters.

Re: Favourite Album
We will have to agree to disagree on that because I love Momentary Lapse and I also think Division Bell is just as good as their earlier stuff.
Regarding Waters though, I saw him do The Wall live a few years ago and it was visually the best show I've ever seen, bar none.
