This is my "go-to" cocktail. By far my favorite.
CAPTAIN'S BLOOD
1½ oz Spiced Rum (Release the Kraken!)
¼ oz Fresh-Squeezed Lime Juice
¼ oz Simple Syrup (I prefer Light Agave Nectar)
2 Dashes Aromatic Bitters
Shake with ice (the colder the better!)
Strain into cocktail glass
Garnish with spiral of Lemon Peel
Found this on Small Screen Network's "The Cocktail Spirit" with Robert Hess

Re: Captain's Blood
Sounds delicious
Nice way to board here.
New guy buys a round for folks; a time honored tradition in FKR's pub. I'll have a tumbler of Captain's Blood, then I'll cover the second round.
Cheers, Dr. Maniaco

Well, that's a hell of a first post. Welcome aboard, good Doctor.
Yes, this drink sounds solid. I've been getting into falarnum recently. Incredible shit, it goes with dark rum like nobody's business.

Well, I made the drinks ... but you didn't show up. Perhaps I should have notified people ... but I didn't and drank it myself. Alone. While wearing my MDM Fez and watching Doctor Who. Fezes are cool.New guy buys a round for folks;
It's Wednesday, so when I get home tonight, I'll try a cocktail I've never had before. That's what I do on Wednesday. I'm finding the art of Cocktail Making very fun, and the blending of the ingredients quite surprising at times. Perhaps a whiskey drink of some sort tonight ...

Re: Captain's Blood
So last night's cocktail was a Seattle Manhattan:
2 oz Whiskey (I prefer Evan Williams ... actually I prefer Esther Williams, but she doesn't make a whiskey ... looks good in a Speedo, though)
½ oz Sweet Vermouth
½ oz Coffee Liqueur (I had some Kahlua on hand)
Shake with ice
Not bad, actually. Very much like a standard Manhattan ... but the Kahlua added a mellowing factor I found quite pleasant. Drank it while watching Ash vs. The Evil Dead. Definitely a whiskey drinking kind of show.
