Cocktail syrups

I've stopped buying monin syrups and started making my own.

After making my own demerara syrup, I'm convinced this is now the way.

Does anyone have any favourite syrup recipes, and what are they?


Oh and my syrup recipe super simple
500g demera syrup
250g water
50ml vodka
slowly heated together until all the sugar is absorbed and the syrup is syrupy. Bottle the syrup. then add 50ml of vodka, in my mind this will help preservation.

Simple syrup flavored with lime juice to taste goes a long way in function and versatility. It’s also very easy to make and keeps refrigerated for a number of weeks. Gin’s best friend next to Churchill.

I like adding a stick or two of cinnamon to the pot as i'm melting down the sugar. Goes great in any number of tiki drinks.

If you want something truly freaky to go in your tiki (freaky good, that is) try enriching the simple syrup with a bit of almond extract and Jamaican allspice. There’s also room to play with things such as citron and grapefruit peel.
