Re: 2010 Baseball thread
Why can't Halladay be the best pitcher in the league without the Phillies being the best staff in the league? Calling them second best hardly means they're not good. The point is that there's no basis behind everyone deciding they're the best. I'm just encouraging people to stick to the facts instead of the SportsCenter hype.
It's not homerism when I'm right. Oswalt gave up nearly as many runs as innings pitched.

Re: 2010 Baseball thread
your problem is, is that the Giants aren't getting as much press as the Phillies. As a Yankee fan, this feeling is entirely foreign to me. Even when the yanks don't make the playoffs, we still hear about what moves the Yanks are going to make - even more so, than whatever team won the WS that year. Don't get mad at us with whole "bandwagon" thing, which is hilarious, because there are no front-runners on this board ( ampersand doesn't post anymore ). ESPN is looking at a team that won the WS, almost won another WS, and has a legitimate chance at winning yet another WS with a pitcher who pitched 2 ( TWO ) no-no's in one season ( I know the post season doesn't count, but yeah, it does ).Chimneyfish wrote:Why can't Halladay be the best pitcher in the league without the Phillies being the best staff in the league? That is not our fault, and those facts are undeniable.
BMMS is wrong.

And I'm excited because I make hoagies for a living and 12 years ago players would go back to college rather than come to this town and now we're a fucking Steamroller.TheBigCasino wrote:your problem is, is that the Giants aren't getting as much press as the Phillies. Sad yes, but when I saw the last Indians home game of this season at the Jake a couple of weeks ago I was impressed by the fans.JohnnyTequila wrote:Chimneyfish wrote:Why can't Halladay be the best pitcher in the league without the Phillies being the best staff in the league? Truth be told, my dad was up in a hotel in North Jersey for months after 9/11 working on the claims from his company's World Trade Center office. He said he was in a bar the night the Yankees took the field for the first time since the attack, and he said there wasn't a dry eye in the house.Mayhem wrote:9/11

Re: 2010 Baseball thread
yep, I was at that game, easily the best baseball game I have ever been to. It was nothing like a traditional WS game at the stadium. When the Yanks scored - everyone was cheering, when the Diamondbacks scored - everyone was cheering. It was a celebration of Baseball more than anything else. People were so happy to get back to seeing something that they loved, instead of all the bad news on the tube at the time. What a fucking game.coqui_chris wrote:Truth be told, my dad was up in a hotel in North Jersey for months after 9/11 working on the claims from his company's World Trade Center office.
