BTW...I've been following this situation and I'll make a couple of observations.

Of the two trade scenarios (Knicks/Nets), you can discard as fairly unimportant the various journeymen, bench-warmers and expiring contracts which are included in the respective proposals which, for the most part, are in order to make the salary numbers match. So what you're basically looking at is this:

The important Denver trade pieces are superstar F Carmelo Anthony and aging but still effective PG Chauncy Billups

The important Knicks pieces are PG Raymond Felton, G/F Wilson Chandler and F Danilo Gallinari.

The important Nets pieces are PG Devin Harris, rookie F Derrick Favors and four first-round draft picks.

You can debate the various pros and cons of PGs Felton and Harris but, both skills-wise, statistically and age-wise, they're fairly close. I'd give Felton a bit of an edge but it's pretty much a wash. So now we're left with this:

Denver's choice comes down to:
a) Chandler and Gallinari from the Knicks or
b) Favors and four first-rounders from the Nets.

Since Denver has made it very clear they're going to start rebuilding with youth if/when CA leaves, just from a future flexibility standpoint the Nets offer seems a no-brainer, IMHO. That the Nuggets haven't taken the Nets deal indicates that they and (especially) NJ have not been adequately convinced that Melo would sign a contract extension and remain with the Nets past the end of this season.

The big unknown factor influencing what Carmelo decides to do is his not knowing what might transpire regarding future NBA salary ceilings and structure under the next collective bargaining agreement. There is some speculation that the owners not only want to cut salaries on new contracts but existing ones as well, which might render moot the future financial benefits from any contract extension he might sign.

Bottom-line: absolutely NO ONE knows for sure, at this time, what these ongoing and contentious labor negotiations may bring.

I'm willing to wait and then throw a ton of money at him. I do not look forward to the Knicks without Gallinari. He's clutch.

Personally, I'd like Walsh to take Gallinari off the table and tell Denver to take it or leave it. The Net's deal is bogus because Carmelo obviously doesn't want to go to the Nets or that trade would've happened long ago and no matter WHAT Denver does, Melo doesn't have to sign an extension with anyone and can opt for free-agency July 1st.

Gallinari is an intriguing player who I believe isn't being utilized to his most effectiveness by coach D'Antoni. Mike D' has gone out on a limb saying Gallo is the best shooter he's ever seen, and Mike, being his stubborn and inflexible self, likes him to stay out on the perimeter and shot 3's, where he's barely mid-pack %-wise at the NBA level. Gallo has good court-sense and moves well without the ball. And when he drives, he can go either left or right and his being 6'10" creates match-up problems if he's being guarded by a smaller SF and where Gallo, being fairly intuitive, could pick up some assists if he gets doubled. I can't count how many times I've watched NYK try to ram Felton-to-Amar'e down opponents' throats, with Amar'e usually drawing a double team and Gallo, sensing the defense sagging on Amar'e, often being open near the basket.

Also, Imagine if they ran some perimeter screens for Gallo and he got into a rhythm? Picture a possible 6'10" Reggie Miller-type.

Hooray for Steph Curry winning the skills competition!

As for the dunk competition, I would have been more impressed if Blake dunked over the highest part of the car, not just the hood. I liked how Boon Dizzle was at the sunroof though.

I agree with everything in this post. No doubt, it's a shame that the NYK saw/see things differently. We're still in a hole. Letting Gall go was stupid at best.

anyway, welcome aboard 'Melo.

I believe it came down to the Knicks wanting to win ASAP while Amar'e is in his prime. The one problem with both Gallinari and Chandler was their often maddening inconsistency. Either one might have a couple of solid games, then a great game and then inexplicably pull a disappearing act. It will be interesting to see how both do under George Karl. I have a feeling Gallo is going to be a star if he's allowed play with more movement in the half-court than D'Antoni wanted from him. I suppose NYK's reasoning was both players are still being viewed with an eye on their future potential whereas Melo is near the top of his game right now.

I like Blake Griffin's power-dunks a lot but thought that JaVale McGee was more creative.

Baron Davis to the Cavs. That's sure to work out well.

Actually, I'll be a little surprised if he even plays one game for the cavs.

and jamario moon is worthless and mo williams is just a step above worthless. i guess the clips had to take those two stiffs in exchange for unloading davis's contract.

yeah, but even with that, it's still a mountain to climb when you have to deal with Boston, Miami and Orlando.
