At least I now have a reason to hate Lebron like the rest of the world got to do. As much as I resist complimenting anyone associated with the Lakers: Kobe Bryant would never let his players sulk around the court during the entire 4th quarter of a game like this. It makes players like Kobe physically sick to lose at anything. Lebron just wasn't born with that gene, and I don't think there's any way to change that.

Gotta love this guy. He's just a regular drunk sports fan who made a few good decisions at the right time that resulted in him being incredibly rich and successful.

Image

Plus, as rich as he got he never once started dressing like a douche.

Yeah...I always got a kick outta Cuban...and as obnoxious as he could be, he was always fighting for his team and the betterment of the game. He's finally figured out how to STFU, voice his complaints/suggestions privately to the league office and let the focus be on the players and the game.

I sent the guy a congratulatory e-mail; not expecting a reply, but just because he has a public e-mail account and is said to read as many as he can.

Depending on how the next NBA labor deal works out, the Lakers could offer Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom for Howard and J.J. Redick (the contract $$ would roughly match). As long as he can stay healthy, Bynum's got a big upside and could move right in at center for Orlando and Odom is a solid, talented veteran who can play all five positions if need be. The Lakers get a center for RIGHT NOW and the next 5yrs or so, and a serviceable guard who maybe stays or gets traded. Bottom-line, this would be better for the Magic than watching Howard walk in free-agency.

Also...Howard reportedly loves SoCal and does NOT want to go to a cold-weather city.

Don't know if anyone's noticed but the NY Knicks are on a 3-game winning streak, sparked by a Chinese-American, Harvard-grad named Jeremy Lin, who's averaging @25 points and 8 assists over those three games. And they're getting it done without Amar'e Stoudemire (family death) and Carmelo Anthony (strained groin).

Yeah I've noticed. I spent all last year complaining about how much of a bust he was. Everyone else around here still loves him though.

Right player/right system with the Knicks, maybe?

We'll see.

The Portland Trail Blazers Curse of the Injury-Prone Center

First, they take center Sam Bowie with the #2 pick back in @1984, over Micael Jordan, because they had drafted Clyde Drexler 2 seasons before, who was an emerging star and who played the same position (SG) as Jordan, and because they needed a center. Bowie had an injury-plagued career. Jordan...well, you know.

Now, after having taken center Greg Oden #1 in 2007, over Kevin Durant, because they already had an emerging star, Lamarcus Aldridge, who played the same position as Durant (PF), Oden has just had his 5th knee surgery, which may well end his injury-plagued career. Durant is a sure-fire HOFer, just now entering his prime.
