Damn it, my shitty book hasn't been offering moneyline wagers on most of the NFL playoff games or on this championship game. They've still got Oregon listed as +3 (-130). It's going to piss me off if I have to pay -130 odds for points I don't even want. I wouldn't mind a Pick'em -110 line even though other books had Oregon +110 on the moneyline for days. I hope they post a last minute moneyline or that the spread moves off a field goal, or else I might have to find somewhere else to put my money.

Good luck JT. I'll buy you a round with my winnings.

Game ain't over yet!
Why does Oregon look like refugees from Starlight Express? Those aren't uniforms, those are costumes. My favorite part of the broadcast so far, as there are six minutes left, was Brent Mouseburgers call of a touchdown ten yards before Oregon went in the end zone, and of course the Oregon player got tackled short of the goal line. Why oh why did anyone think he could replace Keith Jackson as the grand old voice of College Football???
Drink your fucking drink, how about that? Stop the fuckin' presses, isn't it genius??

Am I the only one who was rooting against Auburn solely because of Cam Newton? Great team and all, but Cam Newton comes off as a giant douche. Plus the fact that Gene Chizik told Iowa State to fuck off and lucked into the Auburn job. It just seems that a pair of douchebags just got rewarded. Hence, I weep for the Oregon defeat even though they deserve to lose scoring 19 points.
Logic goes out the window when large sums of money are involved.

Everyone knows what the problems are, but fixing them would be a giant pain in the ass.

Thanks, but what the hell is that? Oregon cheerleaders have a reputation to uphold. I thought that was a picture of Casey Matthews at first. No wonder the Ducks lost.

Well, it was a below average season for me, but at least it ended profitably.

I don't know what it's going to say in this infamous Sports Illustrated investigation that's coming out, but it sounds like Tressel got into trouble for being elusive about breaking a rule that shouldn't have been a rule in the first place. Kinda like Martha Stewart and Barry Bonds. Suspending good players and losing good coaches does much more damage to the sport than a couple players getting free tattoos. I can't see how anyone could think that the game was tainted because some guy sold his own property to a memorabilia collector.

Well, that's a different argument.

As it stands, Tressel was aware in April 2010 that some of his players, including his star QB, committed NCAA violations. As the Head Coach, he HAS to take that info straight to his compliance officer or his AD. He does that, and the worse thing that happens is that the players are suspended a few games (a la A.J. Green at Georgia). Instead, the only person he told was some shady character that Prior knows from Jeannette, PA. Then, he freakin lied to his bosses and to the NCAA about his knowledge of any NCAA violations. No university can have their Head Coach lying to his bosses and to the NCAA about violations. He had to go, and now the NCAA will investigate even more deeply and bring the hammer, probably about a year from now. I expect they get it worse than USC. Tressel and OSU know the rules of the game and they should have known there would be consequences for breaking the rules.

Now, if you want to talk about the galling hypocrisy of the NCAA, we can. If you want to talk about a hundreds of millions of dollars industry exploiting young kids (many from impoverished backgrounds) we can. If you want to talk about coaches with multi-million dollar contracts jumping from school to school and leaving their recruits holding the bag (Lane Kiffin, et al.), we can. If you want to talk about the hypocrisy of schools making millions off of the jersey and likeness of a player while the player gets busted for getting a tattoo, we can.

I'm just saying it's a different argument.

The tattoos were probably shit. Football players as a whole have the second-worse tattoos of ateletes, almost, but not as bad as, basketball players.

Yeah JT, Tressel signed the compliance form and he deserved to be punished for breaking rules that he agreed to.

But on a related note, it's a good time for the NCAA to take a look at these "improper benefits" rules because they're causing more harm than good. There are plenty of old-fashioned ways for college football players to get themselves into trouble without these dumb zero-tolerance policies against harmless things like selling your own property or making a living. Plus, if guys like Pryor were allowed to do Subway and Nike commercials then they probably wouldn't be making these under-the-table dealings with drug dealing tattoo artists. Any day now I expect that the BCS will be vacating USC's 2004 championship and giving it to someone else. Everyone knows that an agent buying Reggie Bush's mom a house didn't cause them to win that game. It's not in the spirit of the game, and fans of any college team should not be happy with what is going on in their sport.
