dive bar foods

There's this deli, the next town or two over, that brings you a plate of two kinds of pickled cucumber, pickled green tomato, and sauerkraut. That plate of stuff is better than their sandwiches. I make a pickled egg that is brown. I can't tell you the recipe right now, but soy sauce is involved. I throw wedges of it on my steak salad.

Back in the 60's a Marshall, Mich. bar owner named Win Schuler hit on a cheap appetizer, Bar-Cheeze:

3 parts Velveeta-type processed cheese (Marvella or off brands work best)
1 part sour cream
1 part creamy or prepared horseradish

Blended together hot and served cold.

He'd put this out with salty garlic chips and cash in big on the amount of beer wine or whatever you had to drink to cool you off.

It's still sold in supermarkets in the midwest, dunno about the rest of the planet.

Great stuff.

I'm more disturbed that you watched "The Ladies' Man" than the eggs and whatnot. I applaud the eggs. You should add bacon.

I've not been to Canadia since I was 6 but this looks about right:

Poutine (fries, white cheddar cheese curds,topped with hot brown gravy) I'd add a fried egg on top.

I like bars that put out bolwes of snacks. One place put out pizza or fried smelt, never tried the smelt. Any places in yuor world have happy huor? how about this Shed place?

Bowls of snacks at the bar are usually covered in bacteria and fecal matter. Even at bars other than The Shed. Since I found out this information I never put out snacks but we usually got a food truck in the driveway.
